Found the video. Watch it in HD. This car looks a *lot* like a baby Maxima. And the front grille is really, really tacky.

nope...i have no problems owning an Altima after having a G. just as I don't have a problem owning an Optima 2.0T or a Sonata 2.0T as well. I think they are all very competent cars for the money. If I need a luxury car with the prestige status, I'll turn to the A6. But for a daily commuter car, the Altima is very sufficient with great gas mileage.

JK, sniper. I couldn't resist the joke.
Everyone's priorities are personal, and the high-mpg, high-tech Altima checks off a lot of boxes on the list...
...just not the ones in my "must have" column.

Personally, I don't mind the gas prices because we don't drive much. But my 10 year old Maxima was quite nicely modified, and still getting over 25 mpg. In other words, I notice the hit, believe me.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I hope Nissan doesn't omit features from the 2013 Altima in the 2014 G. The 2014 G better have the following features found in the 2013 Altima.
Even the 2010 anniversary edition sedan, 2011 limited edition sedan and 2012 limited edition sedan only included the premium, navigation and sport packages but no technology package. Considering that those cars were loaded with extra appearance features it seems silly to me to omit the $1200 technology package.
- Individual TPMS
- Easy fill tire inflation
- Turn signal markers in the side view mirrors
- Blind spot warning
- Lane departure warning (LDW)
- Moving object detection
- All the features in the current G sedan technology package (intelligent cruise control, brake assist, advanced climate control system, rain sensing wipers, pre crash seat belts)
- Adaptive headlights (which was removed from the G sedan technology package in 2011)
- Front collision warning system

^ The Infiniti line-up of the future will have (hopefully mostly as options) all of those things you mentioned. If you take a look at the JX options they are there so other future Infiniti vehicle should also get most of them. To not have them, while the competition does, would be shooting themselves in the foot.
The other thing that's important is they do remain optional. These things can add a fair amount of unwanted weight and to the driving enthusiast that's no good.
I like your idea of calling it something like the 'technology/safety package'. The down side of that (to put a spin on it) is that buyers may see it as though Infiniti doesn't care about their customers safety enough to automatically provide such features in every car.
Similar to when airbags were introduced and many people started buying cars where the airbags were standard and avoiding cars that they were not standard equipment. Probably not though
