Where I live, the BMW 3-series is far more common than the G. Most of the BMW owners are posers looking for validation in their status symbol. While most of the G owners are women, because they're mostly AWD sedans. It's somewhat rare to see a Coupe around here.

But it's even more rare to see a S-Sedan. And when you do get a chance to look in the window for the stick shift... it's crazy rare to spot a 6MT Sedan.

You might ask yourself, who looks inside the G's windows while walking through the parking lot, or goes out of their way to check out a car? That would be me over the last 3 years or so. Just like you, 2011G37JOHNBEST, I've been planning on this car for a long time.

I wouldn't worry about that happening. The Altima has been taking aesthetics from the G over the past few years, not the other way around. Especially the coupes.
The new G will be it's own unique design and hopefully it's a showstopper. There's a lot of competition these days (and growing) so they need to knock it out of the park to ensure continued success. Otherwise more people will switch to cars like the Genesis C. Lots of bang for your buck there too.

I didn't bring it up. 2011G37JOHNBEST was the one fishing for demographics.

Regardless, yours is a fair observation.

Here's another one: threads on myG37 don't seem to have much shelf-life. So unless the comments are highly charged and directed specifically towards another member, it doesn't really matter.

For the price tag and what you get (mpg, decent power, size, style), it's a great car. I saw a new Camry this morning coming home from the gym and it just doesn't appeal to me. I believe a similarly equipped Camry or Accord costs more than the Altima, so it should do well. I mean, isn't this one of the main reason we all got our G? The value?

Not exactly. That's too broad and simplistic.

I've been planning on this car for over 3 years, while owning and modifying an '03 Maxima for 9+ years. So for me, the considerations were well thought-out and prioritized:

1. 6MT
2. RWD or AWD
3. 4DR
4. Power
5. Handling
6. Dimensions
7. Uniqueness
8. Build Quality
9. Price
10. Appointments
11. Repair Cost

Obviously, "Price" is a hard-stop consideration that we all adhere to. But "Value" is the sum total of those criteria, not a member. However, if you look at value only as a component of price, then I guess I'd have to disagree with you.

As long as they keep the sedan with 6mt and RWD I'm fine.
Well it also has to look good too. Looks shouldn't be a problem for infiniti as their concepts are stunning and their design language is exactly what I prefer.

In that context, I'd say you get exactly what you pay for, just like most all Nissan products.

Unlike Volvo, Audi or BMW, where you pay far more than the intrinsic value of what you get. And then you keep paying, and paying, and paying...
