I would look into it after they establish some track record of reliability... Maybe the new 3-series will do exactly that, but who knows. Also, the price is a little hard to swallow for what you get compared to the competition in my opinion. Again, neither one of these issues was addressed in the article.

Looks like the BMW's marketing money well spent.

The G37 can also go into limp mode in a few short minutes without a tranny cooler. Neither car is meant to be flogged at the track.

Infiniti has to keep up, the 3.6L engine is a dinosaur at this point in time.

These articles stick to the specs. Last thing I want is for these mags to inject their subjective criteria about price per/$$ hp, or they don't like the location of the cupholders, or the trunk doesn't hold 10 golf bags.

I want to know how I can expect these cars to perform on the street, without engine or tranny parts being strewn all over the place from a torque launch.

It's a 3.7L hence the 37 in the car's name. And the tranny is fine, it's the oil temp that goes up, but that's after a little while of driving hard, not a few minutes!

Also, the G's interior is very good actually, don't know why they didn't complain about the volvo's though. These magazines are really starting to hate on infinitis every chance they get.

fvck mt. what a sh!tty magazine. i don't know how they're still in business. that "mt car of the year" list reads like the who's who of the sh!ttiest cars made in the last 15 years.

They are the marketing arm of makers whoever paid them the most. So it's not likely they are going out of business anytime soon.

Agreed about the G's interior - I have no idea what they're picking on.

Well, Infiniti must not have been paying them enough in recent times...

Comparing cars which are at significantly different price levels is somewhat strange - especially since Infiniti has the better G37 which is closer (than the G25) to the price of the 328i, although still quite a bit less expensive.

Car magazines are just like other magazines about expensive products (audiophile equipment, watches, etc.) - hint: the reader isn't the one paying the bills.

Not to split hairs, it's actually it's 3.6x, rounded to 3.7.

Even still, limp mode is still around the corner. My statement still stands, these cars are not made to be flogged at the track.

Well they should have just compared the 335 to the g37 and be done with it.

The thing is that the street price of a 2012 G37S 6MT is about $20K lower than that of a 2012 335i when similarly equipped.

True, but the 335 starts at about, ~~$6.5K, more then the G37. Only you can decide if that money is worth it to you. Just like I didn't get a fully loaded, G37, I wouldn't get a fully loaded 335. Although no doubt the packaging of options/accessories on German cars is way different than Japanese cars.
