And... $50,745 for a 4 banger, seriously??
I consider that's an acceptable number. Much better than the 16MPG I get from my G constantly. While sacrificing minimal performance, wait actually gaining a bunch of torque and all other general refinement.

and the 328 that i built with the config costs $42k

Why are you getting 16 mpg from your G?

Something is wrong if that is all you are getting...

The only time I got 18 mpg was when I spent most time sitting in the traffic. Yours sounds like a severe short trips case if nothing wrong with your car, all cars suffer except hybrids.

I drive in stop and go traffic in Dallas...believe me, it's no better. I spend more time sitting still than moving...

Seriously, you should get better than 16...I get that in my 1983 K5 Blazer.

It sounds like i intentionally lie about my G's MPG to make it sound worse?

one tank of gas (~16gal) would only last me 250miles in NYC driving. That averages around 16MPG which is what the computer telling me.

If you want I could show you the receipt next time I go fill up.

Bingo. That's why I don't understand your complaint. So you felt like you could get 23 mpg in the 328i? If you are not moving, you get 0 mpg, no matter what car you are driving.

Why do you read it that way...just saying you should get better than that. Maybe something is wrong...

I was getting 22+ with my old passat 4 banger turbo.

Sorry i took it wrong.

The best I got with the G was ~400miles for a tank and that's about 25MPG.
But that only happens when I go on trip with 95% highway with minimal traffic.

Are you comparing them side by side? There are way too many variations could screw the results. A few years ago, there was no such thing as E10 or E15 which kills mpg significantly.

I am not going to reject your assumption of "flog driving", as we definitely will see more reports of real-world mpg. But with complaints already floating around EPA's unrealistic mpg rating on turbo 4s, the Edmund's observation is legitimate in my book, but we will see...
That is not the point, you said $50K and 4 banger. The 328 is really not $50K, in the same way a GT3 is not reallly $225K, although you could option them up that high.

You should know that the EPA number for the 328 used the start/stop tech to achieve the 23/34 number.

These guys reviewing the 328i would most likely put it to the sport or sport+ mode to test the performance which disables the auto start/stop.

Everything being constant, I was getting an average of 26mpg on my Audi A3 2.0T, while I'm averaging 18mpg now. This is mixed driving in Los Angeles metro.

Please never pick words out of the context. The keyword in this thread is "sport sedan" to which the G belongs.

And... don't let BMW's marketing department get you again, I don't call a bare-bone car a "luxury" sedan with no luxury in it whatsoever regardless badges, but you did when I mentioned Evo/STi. I don't know how thing is now, but there was not even a power seat in the starter 328i not long ago. The $50K was borrowed from the article where all my comments were based on.

Again, please don't reply my comments all over the place, everything we are talking about has to have a context to begin with.
