Intelligent Key Feature

I like intelligent key of G37 Sedan, 2011. I like that I have to never take key out of my pocket. However once I shut off engine and get out of car, sometimes I forget to press tiny button on the handle(to lock car). Is there any setting that the car gets automatically locked(after 1 minute) once it notices that key is far away from car?

I never want to take key out of my pocket.

I'm not aware of such a feature , but the key does a bit for you already! I either press the button on the handle, or reach into my pocket to press the lock button.

And if you don't know, you can hold the door open button on your intellegent key for 5 seconds and all the windows will go down. Unfortunately there is no up feature..

This falls into the phrase I say "It's time to train yourself and not the car...."

Yes except that is a pain when the 'other' car does it... being the creature of habit Im afraid Ill forget and leave the car unlocked... Im surprised there is no 'autolock' given its standard fare in other keyless entry/pushbutton start - at least the ability to program if you want this or not...

So whats the final veridict? we dont know how to program or you cant program?

And Ive always wondered why there is a "down" feature but not an "up" feature... I suspect its safety related and they want you to be there to roll things up less you get someones hand stuck in the window or head in the sunroof

Make it a habit to press the door lock button on the arm rest right after opening the door.

It's just like starting the car too. In the old days, one didn't need to keep the brake depressed to start a car, now you do.

It makes me feel safer if I know I am locking the car myself and can hear the horn when I Lock it. I don't even reach into my pocket. Just feel the key fob on the outside of my pants and push down in the lock button.

Simple as that!

put the actual key in the keyhole and turn to the lock position, hold for however long it takes for the windows to go up. might just be easier to turn the car on and roll em up the normal way, but the option's there.

Not sure this is true, but it will re-lock itself if you unlock it with the intelligent key, and then don't open a door within a number of seconds.

This protects us from locking the car, and then accidentally (and unknowingly) unlocking it as we walk away.

Gents this isnt a big gripe and we understand we can just push the lock button either on door panel, outside or on the key. We were just curious if there was a way for the car to automatically do so

here is how my other car does it: it senses when the FOB is near the car and automatically unlocks the door if it was in locked state or locks it if it was in unlocked state. It means I can walk up to the car, get in, drive, get out and leave the car without once touching the key

You can program it to do this or to require button push depending on your personal preference. The question was if the Infiniti had this option to configure it.

based on the responses it looks like it does not and requires active participation on the part of the driver to lock/unlock... thanks for the responses (even the smart *** ones )
