and you know what i mean by the dealer being familiar with my collegues. most service reps don't have rain-man like memories, unlike your buddy there. my infiniti dealer certainly doesn't know me by name, which suits me just fine.

i'm sure the new 328 is great. and it's 2L turbo may be a stout motor. time will tell.
But saying something is prone to issues, doesn't mean there will be, which is my point. I know there have been threats of a class action lawsuit against BMW, maybe BMW made some mistakes with the first year model. BMW has not been the only one to make a mistake, Acura and Lexus are up there as well.

Today is 2012 not 2007/2008. Need to turn a new page in the book.

Hey buddy no offense, but for the track record, you must be owning BMW stocks.

None, taken. I've done well with them over the years.

However, I do not make up the sales numbers, and everybody is entitled to their opinion, but let's be fair across the board and let's be accurate and not discuss yesterdays problems like they are in the present.

Track record matters, particularly when it's recent. Maybe the redesigned 3-series will prove to be solid - I hope it will prove to be reliable and durable, but it's too early for me to bet any money on that...

It will certainly be good to have an alternative to the G37 (even if somewhat more expensive), particularly if Infiniti drops the manual transmission at some point. BMW is likely to keep it because of the demand in the European market if nothing else.

2012 F30 335i N55 vs 328i N20 Engine, Exhaust, and Fly By Sounds - YouTube

That is a video clip comparing the exhaust and engine sound of the 2012 328i (turbo 4 banger) and 2012 335i (turbo I6).

If the 2012 328i doesn't sound pathetic, I don't really know what else does. I mean, I'd be mortified if I was driving a $30K car--let alone one that can cost more than $50G--that sounds that...****ty.

There's no way to make a turbo I4 sound like a V6, I6, or V8. It always sounds like a weed whacker. Yeah, you can put in a bigger turbo and a bigger exhaust, but it's still gonna be a faster, annoyingly louder weed whacker.

I drove a 328 while getting my oil changed.

My quick review. (and I had a 07 335)
1. Cheaper interior quality
2. Cool looking Navi/Display
3. Dash design is strange
4. Pricey- at theh 44K the car I drove was it wasn't anything but Navi/sun/roof and auto
5. Awesome idea to open the truck with keyless. You just kick under the bumper and the trunk opens.

6. The engine - really good power, smooth and sounded good.

Compared to my G37s 6MT the price I got my car at...no brainer.

The car sounds good in person and I guess if you sit in a parking lot and redline the your engine you should be "mortified"

For me BMW has a good track record, for others not so much. However, the same can be said for Infiniti and Acura.

Yeah, maybe it sounds good to you. And no, I wouldn't waste my time and gas trying to rev a 4 banger in a parking lot. I don't like weed whackers, remember? Actually, I would never touch another 4 banger, period.

Why are you on this forum then? Do you even own an Infiniti? If yes, you should trade it in for a BMW instead.

You sure sound like the biggest BMW fanboi in this thread.

It sounds weaker than an exhaust coffee-canized Civic.

Not really - check TrueDelta. The BMW 3-series fares A LOT worse than the Infiniti G and Acura TL in terms of reliability.

Oh noooo.. I guess you have not owned your G37 long enough to appreciate its quality yet. CR's best sports sedan for 6th straight year award is still not enough to place it way on top of the "Broke My Wallet"s?

Yes, I am a fan of BMWs. You ask if I own an Infiniti, did you check my garage?

Everybody has their own distorted twist on things...and yes I will trade it in for a BMW if Infiniti does not produce a car I like when I'm ready.

No need to be pejorative when someone disagrees with you...but then again this is the Internet.
