Kinda bummed..new G Sedan related

I'm bummed. Long time Nissan/Infiniti fan, but I'm way bummed that the G series is still same as the 07. I know the new one is coming soon...but my lease is up in a few months.

Seems to me that the new 3 series is really nice. I want to have my cake and eat it too. I want a fast car but great gas mileage. Hard to argue with the new 328/335. 335i is now rated 33mpg hwy! Thats 6 mpg more than our G37. The 328i is now 36mpg hwy! 7 more mpg than the G25, and thew new turbo 4 is rated 0-60 at 5.9 seconds, much faster than a G25 and almost as fast as a G37.

Just bummed. I don't really want a BMW, but Infiniti is pushing me away.....

EDIT...this does come at a price. A fully loaded G37, prem, nav, sport runs 43-44K. You can run a 328i up to damn near 50K just get the same equipment as the G, but there is some newer tech that the BMW has that hasn't made it to the G yet (like all the goodies the M has). The 335i is WELL into the 50's.

10K dollars buys A LOT of gas.

My fixation with mpg is more about what I believe in than money...so...still hoping the next gen G can bring it to the table. Getting the VQ from 27 to 33hwy (335i is now rated 33 hwy) is going to take a miracle.

You think the '07 and '12 Sedans look the same?? I beg to differ. The 335i would be fun

They look close enough. 6 years is a long time for a Nissan/Infiniti without a new model. Unless they shock us with something at the New York Auto Show, looks like 2013 will be the same. That will be SEVEN years of the G. I do really like my car, but its hard to swallow the idea of getting another car that is basically like my 09 with a goofy auto and mediocre gas mileage.

Infiniti needs to step it up a bit.....seven years between major body changes is huge in this time of rapid auto evolution. Like the OP, I too would consider a 328i, but price is problematic. Even with BMW's free service and better gas mileage, the net savings over three years is only $3,000 compared to the G. Of course we also know nothing about the new Bimmer's reliability; something that has been problematic for BMW with recent releases.

I had a 335 and the mileage was better overall, but the Infiniti leases way better than the BMW so the over all cost is lower. The free maintenance was good on BMW too. Both cars are dated since the current BMW is about 5 years old too.

The new 3 series is def nice, although I haven't seen it in person yet...but considering the cost differences, I'd go w/ the G. If the G37 and the 335 were similar in price, w/ the 335 being slightly more, than I'd go w/ the 335...but price-wise, the compare is really the 328, and I'd take the G37 over that any day of the week. The list on my '12 G37X (Premium/Nav/Sport) was like $44.5, and my buddies '11 328i w/ x-drive MSRP was just a little less, and it doesn't have Nav or Sport pkg...so I think my car looks much better, and it'll blow the doors off his 328.

I opted for the G37 over the 335i mostly because of the dismal reliability of the 335i. I owned a 540i for 4 years and was constantly at the dealership, for repairs. Everything was covered under the warranty, but it got very, very old having one problem after another.

How often do you see Mercedes and BMW change? They run their models for a lot for years.
Typically quality car brands don't change that often and when they do it's not a drastic change.

IMHO, I love my 11' G's outfit, it really doenst needs any extra thing to add on, the current model is the best looking. well, 335 looks nice as well but it just looks a bit soft on the sedan,

G is more fits for men. success.

Personally I find the G's current look (with the fog lights and newish headlights) to be its best by far. I don't see it as outdated but rather just right for the time. I am afraid any redesign they might do would be for the worse, because these are just damn aggressive-looking cars. When BMW changes to their current body look for the 3s it was a disappointing change IMO.

MPG is not great, but the value is the best by far in this class. It's just a really well-rounded car.

Infiniti does not worry about that, cause 2 years from now, BMW will push customers away the same way Infiniti does to you today. BTW, the new 3 is the new Camry.
