Damn thats a loud colour, I love it. I dont like the exhaust tips on C8s, but besides that the car is growing on me.

Its growing on me.
Wow. Must be nice! The 720S is well out of my budget, but I was actually looking at the 570S and almost bought one last Summer. Wish I did because that same car would be $20K - $30K more right now. My wife really wanted to me to buy an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, but it was either a 1 - 2 year old V8 Vantage or a brand new C8 Vette for $25K less. The Vette definitely isn't my first choice from a styling stand-point, especially with that giant booty! But after driving one that all went out the window. In touring mode the car is just SO easy to drive... definitely easier and more comfortable than the Infiniti. And if your just cruising on the freeway around 75 MPH you can easily get 30 MPG. We actually drove it to Palm Springs this past weekend and averaged just about 31 MPG for the entire trip. Not too bad for a 6.2L V8 with nearly 500 HP!

Congrats, 2GoRNot2G. It must be an amazing experience driving that thing around town.
Much appreciated, John (both the kudos and the criticism). It was between this one and a black coupe, but I already have two other black cars and didn't want another one. My wife actually told me that once she saw the yellow it is the only color she would get, so with the wife's approval I just went for it. LOL

This is a semi-retirement vehicle for me, so I'm ok with it being a bit gaudy. My Dad suggested I buy something before I get too old to actually drive it. And although this car is amazingly easy to drive, it does take a bit of contortionism to get in and out of it, so I don't see myself keeping it until I'm 60 or at least beyond that.

I do agree with you on the rear end and am not a fan of it either. However, the rear end is starting to grow on me. Especially after you realize how much cargo space that wide/tall rear end gives you. We took it to Palm Springs for the weekend and were able to fit two carry on size suit cases and another small bag for my wife's shoes in the rear trunk, plus a cooler, a couple bottle of wine and a backpack in the frunk. Pretty amazing really!

Thanks so much, iCrap! I actually like the taillights, but the big rear end is going to take some getting used too. LOL

Having the spoiler body color like yours, instead of black or CF, that makes a big difference, IMO.

It seems you have the means, you're realistic within that constraint and humble about it all while still enthusiastic. I'm genuinely happy for you.

And this is how I know you are a Corvette owner- you own a performance car and talk about fuel mileage and cargo capacity. lol We have a guy at work who has had the last 3 generations of Corvette and is in the process of getting his C8 and all he talks about is mpg and which supper club he goes to. He is in his mid 30's, but you would think he is the typical old retired Corvette owner. Congrats on the car by the way! I am guessing you are not the type to drive it slow all the time based on your G build. Hope you are having fun with it.

It's the complete package. I went down to the Ozarks with my wife and got 30mpg, fit all of our cargo, and took it sideways whenever the opportunity was right.

I would be in line for a c8 if it was available with a true manual.

I guess it's impressive to have that kind of MPG with the performance it brings. Compare that to the ratio of MPG to performance in a G, perhaps truly something to brag about? lol.

Well, if you can't brag about how rewarding the clutch & shifter are, you look for something else.

Essentially, you dance with the date you brought to the party. It's a pretty hot date after all.

Thanks for kind works, John. Like you, I've been shopping for my next "toy" for several years. I originally thought I was going to get a Jaguar F-Type until I drove one back-to-back with an AMG GT-S. Then I drove a 2020 911 Carrera S and was ready to buy that until my wife said she hated the car, particularly the interior that looks almost the same as my 1991 Porsche. After driving several other cars, I finally had the opportunity to drive a C8 Corvette and that ended the search almost immediately. It blended the best attributes of almost all of the other cars I was looking at and at a lower cost than most of them.

One of my good buddies has a C7 Z06 MT with over 700 RWHP and he absolutely loves the car. The only thing he doesn't like is that it currently has long tube headers and straight pipes without any cats or resonators and it drones terribly on the freeway and has this awful overly raspy exhaust note, so he's in the process of installing resonated test pipes along with a Borla ATAK exhaust. the C8 on the other hand is a little too subdued for me, so one of the first things I'll be doing is changing the exhaust out for something that will give me a little more volume/noise. It's pretty sad when my truck and wife's SUV, both of which have Hemi V8's, both sound way better than my bright yellow Vette. LOL

I definitely appreciate a true manual transmission, but I already own two older sports cars with manual transmissions. So for the new car I was only looking for a car with a DCT, and in fact, the transmission in the C8 was one of the main reasons for buying it. In touring mode the transmission is so smooth and seamless that you don't even realize it's shifting, but in Sport or Track mode it rips off virtually instantaneous shifts and will hold the gear and/or downshift at just the right time. Of all the cars I've driven, I think only the PDK in the 911 has a better transmission.

Yup. Very true, Andy. I actually never thought I would own a Corvette (other than a 1958-1962 C1, which I hope to be able to buy when I retire some day), but the more I drive the C8 the more I find things to boast and brag about. Like Rob said, both the C7 and C8 are super practical sports cars that you can drive everyday and/or comfortably take on a long trip. Because of that, I am already putting way more miles on the Vette than I thought I would.

Almost a mirror-like reflection in that black paint.

Damn, looks great with those wheels…I had a chance to buy a set just like that for cheap but passed because the seller was acting like a tool. My loss I guess.
