Haha, we might be able to make this happen. I'm mostly only free on weekends and there are a lot of shows coming up so it may be a bit but we can see what we can do. FYI: Check out AtlantaG's on FB if you haven't already.

Awesome find! I'm very jealous!! I wish I had this car!!

Due to my job functions at the time I purchased mine I needed to have an Automatic Transmission, so mine's a 5AT. But now I have 2 other vehicles with Auto's, so now I really want a 6MT like yours!

Thanks! I didn't do any DIY-level documentation, but I've got a few pics from during the process that I'll post here, as well as a few pointers.

I used this post for some inspiration / pointers / visual on the cutoff shield:
https://www.myg37.com/forums/build-t...ml#post3983315

I ended up bugging MaQG37 via PM about his process, which helped me a LOT.

I used plastic primer and satin black high temp paint. I didn't paint the chrome strip right near the projector, since that's where the bubbling issue is worst. I ended up painting the side reflector, because my trial with Nite-shadez was disasterous.

I modded the shield to get that nice razor's edge cutoff (as shown in MaQG37's linked above). I added the STI-R lenses, as well. Those required making a few additional spacers out of a cereal box, using the one already in there as a template.

The halos are the 90mm Morimotos found here:
https://www.theretrofitsource.com/mo...=49387%2C49545
You will need to buy the controller, which gives you the ability to change the colors via remote, change modes, turn on/off, etc. The attachment instructions that come with them are exactly what I used; drill holes on either side and run a wire around it, which gets twisted behind. You can't see it unless you're VERY close, and there is no glue to let go under high-heat conditions. I added JB Weld PlasticWeld to lock the twisted wire behind the shrouds. I drilled through the back of the light housing to run the halo wiring, which I sealed up with more PlasticWeld.
The controller is mounted under the hood on the passenger side, at the top of the fender under the weather stripping. The modules are all zip-tied and HD two-sided taped to various places. There's also a great grounding point right there. The halos are run through a relay that has the trigger wire spliced from the hot on the 12v plug in the console. It gets run through the massive "grommet" at the base of the windshield on the passenger side. This was done because the switched sources in the engine bay are all on computer controlled modules (or something like that), so I didn't want to mess with those.

*** Pro tip: Get a 12v source (I use my R/C battery charger power supply) to power the controller so you can test BEFORE sealing the lights back up!!! ***

And the pics, because... well, yay pics!

It definitely would have been cool to meet up... It's always fun to meet the forum members in person. Although I didn't have my G with me. I was in my Ram 2500 Limited. It has the 6.7L Cummin's Diesel, so the gas is almost a gallon cheaper and it still gets around 25 mpg... plus it's more comfortable to drive on long trips and I don't have to worry about every damn bump in the road.

Thanks for the great info on the headlights. Those turned out really nice! Wish I had the patience to do mine myself, but paint work is pretty much the one and only thing I won't do myself... I just suck at it for some reason!

Thanks 2G!
I searched for 7 months in the local area for a 4dr 6MT (for when I have kids on weekends) with less than 10k miles per year average on the ODO. Found a 2009 silver one in January with 46k. I bought it wishing it were white and 2010+.

kept browsing Craigslist and found this one with 26k miles. I lost my *** on the deal but this white one literally leaves me wanting nothing. perfect color, trim, year (last of the 6MTs so maybe a collector one day! LOL), and only 8k miles per year average.

Having test driven the Xs sedan with paddles and the 6MT coupe I knew it would be worth waiting to find the perfect one and it was. They're still out there!

Car looks great either way! But for your black car with the chrome window trim I think the silver wheels are a better fit.

Awesome garage too!!! What part of the country do you live in? I wish I had the land to put in a nice pole barn style building so I could have a garage like yours!

Incidentally, I noticed you have the pre face-lifted bumpers... I still have an AutoKitsX Carbon Fiber rear diffuser for that rear bumper that I need to sell. Send me a PM if you might be interested.

Im interested in the diffuser, i dunno how much the shipping would be to Maryland though.

I've been eyeing that diffuser on the outcast garage site for a while now..

Great story and like I said before, an amazing find! You will be very pleased with your purchase for years and years to come. I've had my G for about 7-1/2 years now and still love driving it.

I actually found a white 2012 6MT with around 20K miles on it last year and drove it twice (once by myself and once with my wife). I almost pulled the trigger on it, but I just couldn't justify the time that would be involved to swap out all of my parts (including the GTM SC), plus the custom body work that's been done to my car would have to stay with it. Not to mention having another car payment after all these years. My car "only" has 60K miles on it and has been fully face-lifted, so it's nearly impossible to tell it's a 2008... the only drawback with it is the 5AT. I figure I'll just keep it for another year or two and then get a Alfa Romeo Giulia with a 6MT when it eventually comes out.

hell, why not swap in a 6MT? I've seen pics of your car here. it's stunning. I probably wouldn't let it go either.

I also saw a crazy Alfa a month or two ago on the freeway. I had no idea what it was until I saw it written on the car.

Oh so it is just like a wide strip of rubber? I guess that would explain how it follows the shape of the bumper. Do you think the one in your link would be large enough for our bumpers? For $10 I wouldn't even feel bad if I tore it off on a curb.

Directional, split 7-spokes?

That's pretty interesting. Left-side, right-side consideration?

Nope, 4 of the same cast wheels. Thus, not a true directional. I dig em though.
