New 12 G37

First Infiniti, coming from a 5 series. Didnt like how BMW not only has gone up in price but now uses run-flats exclusively. To make a long story short, ended up going to Infiniti dealership to try out a G37. Had read all the reviews about it being harsh this and that. I must say yea it has more road noise than my 5, however it does not have wind noise and the ride feels just about right. Ended up getting a Liquid Platinum/opt wheels/prem/nav. Hoping this will be a good ownership experience. Driving home in the rain could not really drive more than 60-65 was rewarded with 27 miles gallon if that keeps up on the hwy will be a happy camper.

I have a similar story and got a 2011 G37s just after Thanksgiving. Love it and don't miss the Bimmer good riddance and it's BS issues.

99% the car for 75% the price, with less issues.

Welcome aboard.

Congrats on your new ride. Not sure whether you got the x or not. The G37 has decent mpg on the highway when keeping below 65. It takes a huge hit in stop and go traffic though. Anyone complains G's hash ride should not get the sport package. You will be happy with the standard setup.

If you travel less than 65 mph around here, you'll get run off the road

I have the non awd sport package (rwd) and don't think it's harsh at all. I'd say it's taut, but not rigid. We'll see how much of that remains after the stiffer sways go on.

No not the X setup not much need for that here in MS, we have maybe 1,2,or 3 snow threats a year.

I bought my 2010 G37 sedan for mostly highway trips and put 17,000 trouble free miles on it, so far. I had a 540i, for 4 years. It was always in the shop for one thing or another. I used the BMW mostly as a daily driver and used my other car for highway trips, because I was afraid the BMW would leave me stranded somewhere that didn't have a nearby BMW dealer to get the car running again. All the BMW repairs were done under warranty, but it got very old having to bring it in so often. You don't really appreciate how nice it is to have a reliable car until you have owned one that is a constant problem.

So True, our 02 745Li always seemed on the verge of leaving us stranded in the middle of nowhere, and almost any repair it needed you could just add a zero to the end of a typical vehicle repair. Don't miss it even slightly. I do like the new 135s w/ the DCT though

the 1200 mile break in period I wouldnt worry too much about it, and as stated in another previous pst I had, I have observed best gas mileage around a steady 80 mark Ive gotten 30+ consistently there.

As far as break-in, just don't use your cruise control the first 1k so you won't lock in at a steady rpm for too long. Keep those rpms fluctuating and an occasional burst to 6k won't hurt a thing I also like to do my first oil change at 1k, then 4k more (5k actual on the odo) then every 5k w/ full synthetic Castrol Edge 5/30 every 5k (makes it simple to remember when to change it that way)
Enjoy your new G & welcome to the club
