You might have some issues. There were two parts to programming the home link to my garage door opener.
1) Link the remote with the mirror
2) Link the opener with the car
#1 is easy. To do #2, I had to get my door opener into programming mode, then within 30 sec press the button on the mirror. If you're able to do #2, you should be good to go.
#2 is required because most modern openers using a rolling code type scheme.

I was reading the instructions on the Homelink site and it stated if there was a problem to put a fresh battery into the remote. I'm hoping that is the problem. The remote has no problems opening the gate, where my daughters condo is, but the 12 volt battery in it only shows 10.9 volts when I checked it with my meter. The actual problem is trying to link the remote, for my daughters condo complex gate, to the Homelink in her new 2012 Elantra. She drove down for the holidays and I told her I should be able to do the link to her car while she is here, but had no luck. So I tried with one of the extra Homelink buttons on my G37, that I don't use and it didn't link either.
