UPDATE: I just got off the phone with the pre-owned manager and we agreed on a potential solution. They're going to swap my 17i wheels for G sport wheels. They get them in frequently, but he said he can't snag one from one of the G37s.

He's going out of town for 1 week and we're going to revisit it and get it all resolved when he gets back.

I plan on writing a letter to memorialize our conversation, but I'll be happy enough with this I guess. I'll probably bring my car to a Nissan/Infiniti specialist at my own expense and have them go over it with a fine tooth comb looking for anything that may be a problem and have it fixed under warranty...

It isn't optimal, but if he follows through on his word, he did make it right and I respect the dealership for it.

 

There are worse people out there lol, like the people who drunk drive and speed in residential

 

Not sure how sport wheels is going to fix future problems. there might not be problems now but the engine might be in worse shape than it would be if it wasn't driven hard. Ask them for a different car... Similar the one you bought that wasn't a loaner...

 

this resolution does nothing for your concerns in this thread. and if you are happy with this, then you have just wasted 4 pages of discussion.

 

Dude... they're MY concerns and this possible resolution was named in the very first post in MY thread...

1. Potential long term problems.
2. I felt like I'd been tricked--irrespective of duty, I felt affirmative representations were VOLUNTEERED to cut off my concerns from the get go so harder questions wouldn't be asked.

These two things bothered me, and made the car worth less to me in terms of value. This solution adds value for me to the point that I can move on...


I've never felt less welcome at a new forum before. I'M the complaining party, but I feel like people here are trying to make ME out to be the douche...

I'm not throwing names around or trying to destroy anyones business and I'm man enough to publicly admit *whoevers* fault my dissatisfaction is, the dealer is making efforts to satisfy the customer.

If you feel cheated that I've reached a resolution that isn't optimal, but is good enough for me... get bent!

Get them to buy it back, period. I wouldn't settle for anything less.

Regardless of people's "morals" or the used car vs courtesy car deal, I know for SURE that courtesy cars are driven hard. The odds that somebody would beat on their daily driver as some loaners I've seen is very slim considering they have to deal with future repercussions of reliability from the abuse. Whereas with the loaner, you beat on it and give it back, no repercussions.

Have them buy it back, acquire peace of mind, buy a better car.

 

sorry, i didn't catch the part in your first post about the wheels. i was so caught up with your concern about the potential issues of the car and the dealer's offer to buy the car back, i thought that was the ultimate resolution you were looking for.

 

No prob, bro. I'm a little on the defensive side here as I feel like I haven't had the warmest of receptions.

If I want to give the car back, they'll buy it back. It was offered straight off. My problem the deal on the car was structured around the net cash outlay and I got a great deal on the G37x, but **** for my trade in. If I take my money back, I'm not in the best place for replacement purposes--about $3.5k short in value for a trade-in elsewhere. Also there is nearly $2000 in sales tax that I lose.

 

can't they just buy your car back at the price you paid and give you another one and still apply the trade in value? basically, you will only pay the difference of the next G (if priced higher) and the one you're selling back. or better yet, you might find a better deal on another G.

 

In this case its all about how a buyer perceives the deal. Seems initially Gopher thought it was a good deal being a used vehicle, after discovering it was a loaner he or she felt it was no longer a good deal even though its the same car.

Some of us would be satisfied turning it back for a refund, others would keep it regardless, and OP is satisfied with new wheels or a extended warranty.

They're likely open to taking the car back because they made so much on the deal. Try turning it around and renegotiate a good price on a new (as in brand new) car, preferably something on their lot (gives you more room to negotiate).

 

I understand your frustration....I would turn it back to them. Although I don't abuse rentals or loaners, way too many people are unethical and drive the *ell out of them because they are owned by someone else.

 

I would have kept that one to myself anyways...Thats like saying, "I hooked up with this chick last night and when I went to grab her cooter I grabbed a d!ck!" what should I do? I feel cheated.

Exactly. What goes around, came around. It's irresponsible to abuse a rental.

I bought my G as a dealer demo with 6.500 miles. It's driven by the dealers, they drive them as their personal car for month or two, each. There was evidence this was true; three of the dealer's names were stored in the Bluetooth phone setup and they guy who was driving it at the time had a notebook in the back seat.

I would not want to buy a rental or courtesy car though. A lease, maybe.
