I'm so glad I chose the G37 over the new BMW 3 series~

Is a 328i and better sports sedan than a G37S?
I have conceded that a 335i is the better sport sedan, though not a better over all value. I don't think anyone is arguing these two completely different measures of a vehicle.
based on msrp:
A new similarly equipped 328i costs roughly the same as my G37S 6mt.
A new similarly equipped 335i costs $10k more than my G37S 6mt (loaded).
Factor in that I bought my G at > $4k below msrp and I am happy. I couldn't get BMW to budge half of that amount when I talked to them a few years ago.
While I would always consider spending more (gaining in performance) on a 335i, I would never ever consider spending the same or more for a 328i.

The 3 series and G are in the same class.
So is the 5 and the M.
IMO the selling point for the G is more power for less money.
And that's the exact reason I chose the G.
The 3 can't beat the G's value but it is the best in class.

Some categorize them by price, some categorize them by class.

Be more clear. 328 or 335? IMO the 328 is not best in class and since it is at the same price point as the G37 it loses in the value category as well.

I notice a theme, ......$$........$$$.............$$$...$$$$........ $$$$$
My in laws hae a 2010 328i. Its nice but I wouldnt trade it for my G37. If they had a 335i, that would be a different story..
Dollar for dollar and my experience drivingh the G and the 328i auto, G37 is the easy winner. The 328i is just not exciting.

Although when it comes to 335 most people wont take a base and after all the options it would be more worthwhile to just jump into an M3. Thats just me.

geezus, this is still going on?
bottomline is, I agree the 3 series is superior to the G. Either you compare the G25 to the 328, or the G37 to the 335, the BMW is a more superior car. If you want to talk value, ok, the G is a better value for what you get. We feel that because most of us think it is a fair compromise for the power and driving dynamics v. price savings. As for reliability, I don't think people should go by what they read or CR. I've own 2 Audi and my parents owned 5 MB in the past with no major issues. Are there problems with those cars? Sure. But I'm sure there are problems with the G also. But I only speak on personal experience and not what I HEAR. And having the G, the M, and the Audi now, I can say from an unbiased opinion that I love them all. But is the G or the M on par with the Audi in performance and driving dynamics? No. Overall, the BMW is a superior car. Just because I own a G doesn't mean I am afraid to admit that and feel I need to defend it to my grave.

Good luck with the repair bills if you keep it beyond warranty period. I was not overly impressed with BMW when I shopped. For the money, G is a much better value. Audi is waaaaay overpriced for what you get, and their repair histories are the worst.

Well the first wave of reviews for the new F30 are out and they are all positive.
The new F30 328 has 242 hp @5000-6500 and 260 lb·ft@1250-4800. (love the low end torque btw)
0-60 in 5.9 sec.
It's quiet an upgrade over the E90.
Add a Kelleners chip tune for around $800 and it will pump to 294 HP / 310 LB-FT.
Almost inline with the 335.
Now let see how will Infiniti respond the F30 with the G redesign in a year or two.
