G37 Engine Stalling on Start up

Hello,

In the last couple of days, when starting up my car, RPM would rev up and then down to zero and the engine stalled. Repeated the step 3 more times before it would stay on. Any advice of what could cause it? Take it to the dealer? But I am wary that they say they cannot replicate it.

Battery is new because it was replaced under the TSB.

My 350Z did that after disconnecting my battery during a stereo installation...after driving it for a week or two it stopped doing it, and returned to normal.
I should add that mine happened only when the motor was warm...on cold start up it did not happen.

May be worth while checking the throttle bodies under DIY. My dealer service advisor said that's a sign for dirty throttle bodies, stalling on start up....

that's exactly what i was thinking. clean your throttle bodies -- your symptoms suggest that maybe the flaps aren't opening and closing as they should. either they're dirty (but isn't your car fairly new, OP?) or they're getting stuck, in which case -- dealership issue.

Thank you for suggesting cleaning the throttle bodies. It seems like I am experiencing the same thing as the posters in the DIY.

My car is a 2009 with almost 40K miles. I guess it is time to clean the TB.

Will the dealer clean the TB under warranty?

not a warranty item. The dealer rolls it into the 15K mile service and quotes $120 if done separately.
