Thermometer slow to react and Seat motor noise, Oil starvation

When the temperature drops by a good number of degrees (say 10 or more) when the car is parked, the outside temp sensor takes a few minutes to give me the accurate reading. It keeps dropping by 1F every 5-10 seconds until
it's in the ballpark.. Is this normal?

Also approx 25% of the time, the driver side seats making a wierd noise (as though its in pain) when the car stops and the seats moves back ... Anyone else having this issue ?

Also a bit concerned over engines getting fried due to oil starvation

The outside temp sensor isn't very accurate, nor is it very responsive. It just gives you a basic ballpark estimate.

Driver's seat shouldn't make a painful noise, that's weird.

Your engine won't have any oil starvation problems if you take care of your vehicle. If you don't take care of your vehicle, you should worry, a lot. (Taking care of your vehicle includes but is not limited to checking the oil level regularly.)

What else do I need to do to take care of the engine other than using the best oil/filter (M1 Synthetic) and such ?

Our engines aren't all that different when it comes to maintenance. Same thing you'd do with any other vehicle. Check and change fluids regularly, watch your tires pressure, keep your filters clean, use good fuel... Every 30,000 miles or so I like to give it a seafoam treatment and make sure throttle bodies are nice and clean...

you use seafoam?! lol that's awesome! results? i've used in on my previous cars (TL), but after seeing what it seemingly did to my plugs, i opted to not use it on the infiniti.

Yeah, sometimes my temp gauge is way the hell off and doesn't correct itself until the next time I am in the car. Usually it is pretty damn close to accurate, though, in my experience.

I've always used Mobil1 w/ Mobil1 filters and change oil every 5k. My oil is always at the top mark on the stick after 5k and no unusual engine noise. I wouldn't be surprised if most vehicles have some similar contingency to deal w/ customers having issues w/ oil levels. I'm sure that all motors ever made have had a few that have had to be replaced due to faulty seals, rings, or neglect that couldn't be traced back to the owner. These VQs are great engines that have a proven track record, the VVEL is a nice improvement but w/ the tighter clearances using quality oil & filters should be stressed at the time of purchase.

So far, I've only done it once one this vehicle since I got it around 35,000 miles and haven't hit 60,000 yet. Part of my initial work on a used vehicle is changing the plugs, so I gave it a good seafoam treatment, then changed the plugs. I didn't notice any significant fouling from the seafoam treatment. The old plugs looked like slightly used plugs. I'd have put them back in if I didn't already buy new ones.
