i've actually heard that costco gasoline comes from arco. but then again, all gas comes from the same refineries. the only difference - cleaning additives. makes me wonder if being picky (i am, MAJORLY) is worth while...

You know, FWIW, the last few months of owning the camaro, I did fuel up at samsclub and costco, 87 too. Recommended was premium. I didn't beat on the car, and really, couldn't tell much difference between running a name brand premium fuel and this stuff. Of course, I'm sure the lt1 is nowhere as rev happy as the engine in the G is. Maybe it makes sense to fuel up at these stations but drop a bottle of techron in every now and then. Considering the cost of such a bottle, are you really saving anything

^^ also, considering we are driving around in > $40,000 cars should we be concerned with spending $400/year more for the recommended fuel? I'm not saying I like it but $7.70 a week (in my situation) isn't much

how did you come up $7.70/wk ? just curious?

For ex: mine 370miles runs roughly 20 days, paid $67 today, so i guess it's $3.35/day??

Not all gas are equal. Companies such as BP and Shell has much better gas than Sam's Club, BJ and etc. Oil companies only make profits from selling gas, so it would make sense that they offer high quality gas vs big chain stores that only meet the bare minimum of requirement for selling gas. I always avoid those chain store gas station. They have many avenues for profit so gas quality won't be on par as the oil companies gas stations which only has one way to profit. That's my 0.02 anyway, I would avoid those chain store gas cause in the long run what's 3 dollar saved per fill up if you're feeding your engine sub par fuel.

Just filled up for $4.04 at a Mobile in La Verne. I'd say gas fluctuates from $3.80 to $4.20 around LA. Downtown and nicer neighborhoods command a premium over that. There's a Shell station in DTLA that was charging $4.98 at one point.
