Radar Detector Issues

Is anyone having issues with their radar detector since installing in your G37? Mine (Escort 8500 X50) has been having lots of Laser false alarms. Tracking it closely it seems like it alarms under 3/4 or more acceleration and sometimes as I coast down back through 2200 RPM. I am getting the feeling that there's some sort of electrical feedback going back into the detector and it's causing the false alarm.

I only get the laser false alarm when point the radar in front of the navigation. There is some signal frequency that makes it go off but when driving it is normal.

have the same detector and the same problem even when i used it in other cars-i contacted passport and they said its a common problem that when the car goes above 2500 rpm it can set the laser off-its not the car but rather the unit itself-i contacted passport and they said send it in for service and they recalibrate it for 80 bucks

Had the same problem too, I called escort asking them what they can do and they said it might be the XM in the car? or the also said that it could be fried? from heat or cold conditions. Try moving your radar around and see if that fixes your problem good luck.

What do you think of it? What detector did you use before it?

I had the same conversation with them. I'm just concerned that I plunk down $80 ($90 with shipping) and what if it doesn't fix the problem? Might just jump to a new detector and take advantage of the $80 trade-in credit Escort is offering (hence the question above about the Redline).

I am using a escort passport 9500i over the nav screen. I do not have Nav, but I also do not have any problems with my escort.

You can lock out false signals with it.

Also, cops run on a few different bands. K, KA, X, and Laser. Do not ever shut these off. Each state is different, but in Georgia, they run all of these bands.

Return your escort for a refund, and purchase the new $300 passport from Escort.

This is my first radar. I did my homeworker before making my purchase. It was either a V1 or Escort Redline. Amazon had a awesome deal for the redline for $350, needless to say I live in NY/NJ area, being that the redline is pretty sensitive, automatic doors gonna set it off quite often. If you travel in the same route often and its setting off your 8500, maybe a 9500ix?

I have the radar for almost a year. So far, I only have 2 saves. The rest of the times, I usually follow a rabbit and have amble warning. The funny thing is, more often than not, the radar detector never goes off after you pass Leo. So pactice good/safe driving They are getting smarter out there. I am looking into getting a laser jammer for both front and rear.

Is a radar worth it? Its like insurance, you wish you had it when you need it. Just my 2 cents.

Read up on radardetector.net forum so you can make an informed decision.
