Rock Chips on ROOf?

Anyone else getting rock chips on their roof? Is the paint on this car that bad???? Anyone else feel like they would never buy a Infiniti/Nissan product after their experience they have had with the quality of materials, and the fit and finish of their infiniti.

Not rock chips... If it out of view of the road then it's egg corns from oak trees. They can do a ton of damage.

I have to say though the Infiniti paint isn't in the same league as my BMW. I had 0 cps on the nose after 3 years of NYC hiway driving and the infiniti has only 900 miles now and have a slight chip on the front ground effect... I agree the the price of the car it should be better quality.

Yes, I have a rock chip on the roof!!!

Quality wise, I am happy with everything else, BUT the PAINT and the LAGGY 7AT!!!

I doubt I will get another Infiniti unless they improve the paint and the 7AT.

These 2 issues ruined the car, otherwise it is perfect.

I am not sure BMW paint is better than Infiniti paint. People have complained left, right and center about BMW paint on various forums. Personally my 330i had a ton of rock chips after a few years.

I have maybe 3 rock chips on my 2010 G. 17 months. Same with the 2008 M35. About 3 rock chips. Granted, they don't get driven as much as others perhaps. G has 13k miles after 17 months and M has 25k miles after 33 months.

Is this sarcasm or has Infiniti really addressed the pathetically fragile paint? I'm thrilled w/ most of the cars features and performance (enough that I bought another G) but the paint has always sucked. I've got about 60 chips on the hood, sides above the headlights, and windshield pillars. If it has indeed been addressed I will keep Infiniti on my shopping list, if not, I'm looking at other makes.

And the trannie issue, hopefully it's getting better programming too. I'm going for a reflash on Monday so I hope it's not sarcasm
BTW, OP you really need a couple more choices in that poll. It's most definitely not a piece of junk, and all makes have various issues that need to be addressed and in Infinitis' case it's the paint, leather & tranny. The fit & finish is quite good IMO as far as door gaps, interior fit & quality of materials.

You can always go with a Clear Bra - I did and have no regrets...or paint chips for that matter. It's definitely an investment but it's one that works and I've had my car for almost 18 months and it's still perfect.

clear bra aka DFW Clear Bra - 469-682-3497

The new infinitis and nissans have self-healing paint.

factory parts that come factory painted are def quality. Now their actual body shops on the other hand can all vary.

My 09 has thre self-healing paint, I hope whatever they're using now (or in the near future) is a superior blend. The chips still fly off the car at a horrendous rate and although the self healing feature does work for light scratches and swirls it's done nothing to improve on the chip-prone nature of the paint. Maybe it's gotten better lately, but posts from others w/ 2010s & 11s seem to also think the paint is very weak.

I love the car except for the paint and auto climate control. If they upgraded the interior to Audi specs and improved the paint I would absolutely buy another in a heartbeat. As it stands today though, I will roll the dice on repairs and buy a BMW next time.
