Navigation update every exit on route

How do I stop my navigation from telling me to stay on the highway as I pass EVERY SINGLE EXIT on my route. If I'm going to be on 95 for 60 miles, I don't need to be told to stay on 95 as I pass every exit...

Even if you turn the volume all the way down, it still lowers the radio with every exit. Then I won't hear I I have a turn comming up I I'm jot paying attention. I just want to be alerted when I'm comming up on a a turn...

That's just the way this navigation is.

When on a freeway while using route guidance in my '08, whenever there’s an off ramp to another freeway, mine reminds to stay with the one I’m on (if that’s part of the planned route). I guess it wants to make sure I do not prematurely exit to another freeway when I’m not supposed to. But for the many non-freeway exits it is thankfully silent.

I’m just wondering if there’s an incorrect setting on your nav somehow that is causing this reminder for every exit. Certainly, if, let’s say, the little number on the upper left tells you that you will be exiting in ten miles, there’s no way it should tell you anything until your planned exit is near.

Mine doesn't speak at many freeway Exits but it usually guides me away from the optional collector lanes if traffic is moving well.
Usually when I get out on the freeways I use the voice command "Voice Guidance Off" and when I get closer to my destination I say "Voice Guidance On"

edit: I was just thinking, I don't know if the pre 2010 navs have the setting for "Intersection Guidance Settings" but lowering the amount of notifications may help but I haven't tried it for this purpose. It's more for urban driving.
