First, thanks for the feedback from everyone.

Nope. Unfortunately it has the base aluminum trim that comes standard. I really wanted the carbon fiber trim they offer, but I just had a hard time finding one.

s4's are nice.. it's everything the G37 isn't and wants to be but Infiniti refuses to let it happen.... i mean have you seen IPL? I mean COME ON. give the people what they want...
The IPL is a pretty weak attempt at a performance line. Like I said, I love the G and what Infiniti has done in general, but the IPL line is a complete joke.

jran,

i have a couple of questions too! lol hope you don't mind...
as far as aftermarket support goes (i'm assuming you've looked in it...i've seen your previous g haha)...are apr maps an "off the shelf" map? is there any way to have the car protuned (custom tuned based on the CAR and not numbers)...? i only ask because...i'd like to get eventually too. i just don't wanna be running off the shelf maps with crazy afr values. apr seems like the "cheaper" brand, is it not?

All APR maps are "off-the-shelf" and run about $1500. You also have to send your ECU in. I expect it may go down, but right now they are the only ones that offer good tunes. Having it custom tuned is not really an option at this point (I would imagine you could take your car to APR, but that is it). Unfortunately, since flashing seems to be difficult, APR is reluctant to let dealers do any type of tuning.

I think APR is a pretty good brand and company. Definitely not cheap. They do have their detractors, and have had a few minor issues along the way like any tuning company. Most people seem really happy with the tunes, and happy with APR on the newer platforms.

I also expect that as time goes on, more options will be available; like more tuning options, custom tuning, and hand-held programers. The 3.0 S/C engine is still really new, and Audi is starting to use it in many more cars (new A7, A5, A6, Q7, etc.).

Congratz on the car. I can appreciate the smell of new leather even though I'm not a fan of the s4. I'd rather get the 335is. Hope you get many trouble free years with it.

S4's are definitely nice. I would have loved to be driving an AWD 6MT, cuz here in the PNW it comes in handy! Why the heck does Infinity not make a 6MT option for their AWD's? If they did, it would have been the one that I bought. Lame man.....

Why would you want a Auto?

Trust me a twin scroll turbo does alot.
A 2012 x5 just whipped past me yesterday on highway, turbo is no joke.
I have an 2011 X5 35i, if you were really trying to go for him and he passed you then that would have been an X5 50i or an X5M

I will agree though, the twin scroll technology makes power available everywhere, my X5 pulls hard from about 1500 rpm and feels just as fast as the G37 till about 60mph, beyond that, you start to feel the weight. The VQ is certainly outgunned by the N55/N54. When it comes time to replace my G37, next year I am going with either the 335i or the S4.

I have to say fine choice in going for the S4, Ibis White would be my first choice as well.

The 3.0 engine isn't available in the A5. I don't even know of any plans to make it available in the A5, in the U.S. at least...

It'd be nice if you let us know your true feelings, and any issues, after a year of ownership. Unless you ditch us for an Audi forum... LOL!
Audi isn't on the high end of the reliability scale, but that doesn't mean that an Audi owner should expect to have problems/issues. If you consider the odds, even the lowest rated vehicle (Land Rover?) can go many years without a single issue. That's why I don't focus on reliability ratings and I just buy the car I like most. All new cars are very reliable, even the ones that make the bottom of the list.

I had a 2011 GTI (2.0 Turbo) Chipped (APR Stage 1) by an authorized tuning shop - it was 1/2 hour of labor and gave me ~254HP, 300Torque - really smoot and nice - a brilliant upgrade, with no issues. You can even toggle between stock, and varios modes, like 91, 93 Octcane.

The S4 is a worthy "trade/upgrade" to the G37 - give or take 20k
