BMW 335 gets software update, when will we?
All existing and new BMW 335i and 135i owners can buy this update which boosts their performance by 20hp and 30ft-lb torque.
2011 BMW 335i Performance Edition Package Priced at $550
When will Infiniti release something like this.

It's pretty easy for manufacturers to do this with turbocharged engines since the ecu controls all of the boost, timing, cam phasing parameters. I believe Ford released an update for one of their turbo diesel F250/350s a year or so back that brought a prior model years power levels up to what they were currently selling.
I don't see how Infiniti would be able to accomplish a big power gain since our motors are naturally aspirated and it's not terribly easy to pickup gains without adjusting quite a few parameters, even after doing so I wouldn't expect much over 5-10hp gain without some extreme measures.
Seeing things like this make me want to go turbo with my next purchase. I think back to the Dodge SRT-4 days when Mopar Performance offered simple staged kits that would give big bang for the buck in terms of power gains on the stock motor.

You really can't tune the stock VQ for a lot more horesepower....smoother hp/tq curve yes....but if you want more power you need mods and even then you won't get much without FI
Lol @ bmw's update. For that price they should just give you a JB4 which boosts hp by 100! And it would still be under warranty (it's a pretty quick uninstall).
I would love to see a factory FI on infinitis though. Nissan clearly can do them quite well (300zx, R33-35s, hell even the juke's turbo is a little beast w 180hp on a 1.6 4-cyl!).
Speaking of updates. My last service trip I got an ECU and TCM update (didn't ask for it cus I thought my tranny was fine....but the car came out with some new brains lol). Dunno what to make of it because I was running an uprev tune before, so I am not sure whether there's an improvement but the shifting in DS does seem to be better.

Although it hasn't stopped me from owning Infiniti's, I kind of lost faith in Infiniti/nissan's engine reliablity after reading all about the 6mt/VQ35DE's oil consumption issues. When engines/blocks need replacing (under warranty or not), it can really shatter their reputation...
