That's impressive; your car must be a ringer or the BMW drivers are average.

Ill tell u the way i drove and beat them.

1. Vdc OFF
2. Put it on DS mode.
3. Standstill gas+brake hold rpm on 2K
4. On go let off the brake floor the gas pedal
5. After passing 60mph the car should upshift to 3rd gear than downshift so it will go to manual mode so ull have the 3rd gear all the way to max redline.

wow nice. yeah didnt think that 135 would be possible. So does that mean its possible to beat a 335 sedan in a drag even though it has more tq.

I agree. I owned an e46 M3 and it was much faster than my G37. It was a sad day to have seen it go, but winters in Chicago are no good for the e46. This must have been an inexperienced driver.

This seems odd to me since I owned an e46 M3 for 7 years and drove it hard. The e46 gearing is such that 3rd gear redlines at about 100. Trap speed for 1/4 mile is 106 in 4th gear. I now own a G37X and the infiniti gearing in third is low enough to not even reach 100mph. Was this really a 1/4 mile race? You both should have been in 4th by the finish line if it was a full 1/4 mile race with a good start. Maybe a shorter race with superior traction in the G is why you beat the M3. I know I had a lot of trouble with my M3 6 speed manual off the line.

The radiation from the nuclear meltdown in japan has mutated the G37 to become a super G37 that is the only explanation that makes sense!!!

the e46 m3 is easy to beat.. those things are slow. But the 135i is pretty quick!

shoot, really?! lol i had a chance to run an e46 m3 in a straight line at an event put on by pacific raceway, coming out of the corner, i left in 2nd gear and took it up to 5th (my gears are shorter) ~130 mph before we had to hit the brakes for the turn; i only pulled on him my about 1.5 car lengths! the second time around i had him by much, much more...but i assumed driver error.

PS how much quicker are the 135's compared to the 335's? 135's are just as equally heavy, aren't they?

If you are looking at straight curb weights, yes around 30 lbs different with the G being heavier. I would imagine a new 335i with the 8 speed tranny would have an advantage due to the lower RPM that they have peak torque. At least for initial acceleration, not sure once you are talking a quarter mile run.

ahh thanks for the response dadstaxi (lol nice sn). despite, i have another question...it's a little embarrassing, but we'll never meet in person, right? LOL

what's the difference between gross and curb? doesn't gross mean the very weight of the car AS IS, off the showroom floor? ie with all the fluids, seats, etc. in it? the curb weight is...just shell no? if so, why do we even consider looking at the curb weight...?

I think gross is everything in the car, fluids, junk in the truck, etc... curb is the car weight, empty, and I assume that means fluids, too.
