Feeling lots of heat coming from the engine.

Hi
On my 09 sedan, in the past 5 or 6, I am feeling heat coming from the engine. It almost feels as though I have the seat heater on (verified its off) and hot air coming underneath my legs. If I close the vent (no circulation), its better but still feeling the heat from the engine. In the winter, I didnt mind the heat but in the summer days, its like a easy bake oven without the on AC. Anyone feeling the heat/hot air coming from the engine?

Tempature gauge is normal. It doesn't happen all the time. During my drive back yesterday (around 8pm so wasn't hot outside) from bethpage on LIE,.. about 45min drive to home. I had to turn on the AC and close the vent to keep the outside air from circulating. Other times, its so bad that my butt starts to sweat.

Haven't really compared it with other vehicles but I have also noticed the Engine compartment does get exceedingly hot on summer days with the A/C on. I can drive for about an hour or so then return home go out to the car up to (hours) later and the engine is still extremely warm. This is one reason I decided against CAI's is because of the extreme temps. under the hood i realize the intake portion of the filter is shielded somewhat but with that kind of constant heat seems to be defeating the purpose of Cold Air Intake. Seems the stock airbox is the better option, Unless of course you go with the CAI's that come together behind the grille in front of the radiator but what a hassle to service the filters.

It's normal. Went on a mountain run for 4 or 5 hours and car was very hot even though the gauge said it was normal. It's obvious it'll be hot under that condition, but even driving normally with ac will make it hot.

I think this is pretty common with this platform. I use to have a Z and it was the same story, it always felt as if I had the heater turned on to a low setting. And if you turn on the air with no AC it smells nasty. Bad overall AC piping I think.

Do you guys think removing the plastic undercover will help in dispensing the heat? Not that I am planning to do it though.

Is your climate control on 60 degrees when you turn it off? Sometimes when I leave it at 79+ it blows hot air.

No, don't do that. That'll create drag and mess with its drag co-efficiency. There is a reason why we have these underbody trays. Instead, try to put some of these (Sound Deadener Products FatMat Dynamat Xtreme Alternative or any other sound deadening materials) on under the carpet. They might help better. Usually, sound deadening materials block heat very effectively.
