Vibration in idle

My 09 G37 vibrates when idled in drive. I can clearly feel it at the steering wheel at every stop. It happens weather the car is cold or warmed up. Sometimes it gets stronger, but I do not see any significant RPM fluctuations. It stays around 600. Dealer says they don't see any codes and there is nothing wrong and that it is normal. I don't believe it is normal at 17K miles. I've read the DIY thread about throttle body cleaning, but I am not sure if this is applicable to the '09 and later engines. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Dealer is adamant that they cant find anything wrong with the car. Unfortunately there is only one dealership in Oregon.

Maybe dirty throttle bodies? Mine does the same as yours but will occasionally drop to about 300 rpm and back to 600. I'm gonna clean my tb's sometime this week to see if it helps.

During my last service (30k) they cleaned both throttle bodies and "re-learned" the idle.. and a subtle vibration in the steering column was resolved.. FWIW

I have an '09 as well

I was not sure if throttle body cleaning is applicable to vvel engines. I guess I can do it myself, however I don't know about reteaching idle part. is it absolutely needed?

Its a first car that i bought from a dealer... What kind of leverage do I have since they (both service adviser and mechanic) deny that there are any issues? They know that there is no other Infiniti dealership here...

Try to get the service advisor or service manager to ride with you in the car and point out the vibration to them when it happens. You can also try to talk with the owner/manager of the entire dealership. Usually they are more worried about customer satisfaction than the service advisor. If they still try to say it's normal, take it to a reputable independent mechanic or perhaps nissan dealership. Basically, you just need to get someone familiar with the car/engine to say it's not normal. Make sure to get that opinion in writing or have the person be willing to answer questions from your dealer if need be.

I had something similar happen to me with the leather in my car. I got it replaced under warranty, but the replacement looked worse than the original. The service advisor and service manager said that was the best they could do and that it was "normal." I brought it to a nissan dealership that said it wasn't done right and should be redone. Used that to get it replaced a second time by infiinit.

That's good advice -- the throttles on the 370Z have to be very very similar if not identical to the throttles on the G37 .. I think they would be a good judge if your vibration at idle was abnormal or normal.

Thanks a lot for advice all of you. Hopefully I will be able to convince them that the problem is not just in my head.
