My G is getting raped by idiots who can't park. :(

this reminds me of my work. When I still drove the civic, my car was was HIT twice and once someone scratched my car paint with their door. Not once did anyone admit to it. I have a black car, its not hard to find red and white paint transfer on my car. now I park in two spots in the g37 so no one can do that.

set up a surveillance camera to tape the neighbouring drivers in hopes of catching them on film? i don't know what the "privacy" laws are in your area, but maybe some hard evidence would force them into coming clean...
it is extremely frustrating, i know. most of us have experienced similar things at some point. i used to live on a main street overlooking the parallel parking below me. in 2 years i confronted at least 12 people for damaging other cars since they were "parking by braille" as i like to call it. i told them all the same thing: "i will be providing your licence plate info and personal description to the other owner when they return; you can either give me a card with your contact info for private settlement, or this will go through insurance. if you leave it is a hit and run". in 10 out of 12 cases the offender settled privately with the innocent owner when they returned. the other 2 cases were tourists...
and no, i'm not a cop. just an observant guy who hopes someone else would do the same thing if they saw damage to my G.

These people need to be taught a lesson, or their behavior isn't going to change. I would call the police, file reports for both sides of the car, and then sue them, in that order. If you do nothing, then expect the same behavior to continue. I hope you kept the little love note the one crazy lady left for you, because it's as much as an admission of guilt.
Re: the other poster that watched the door swing into his car and then got into a shouting match -- understandable reaction, but I would have written down the plate # and filed a police report.

I feel your pain. A few months ago, I parked to text. I parked far away from the busy spots and still of POS buick parked next to me. My girlfriend called me so I answered.
As I was talking to my girlfriend I watch and felt as the passenger of the buick (a woman in her 50's) swung her door open and hit right behind my wheel. She mouthed the words "I'm Sorry" and walked off. I hung up on my girlfriend and talked to the driver (her husband). I was pissed.
He said, "lets see what she has to say". Upon her return, I said, "you hit my car with your door". She said, "nope". I kinda yelled, "you mouthed the words I'm sorry when you did!". She asked me to calm down and her husband got out of the car.
He said, "son you're acting kind of crazy". I was furious, it only made it worse when he said, "I know all the cops in this town anyway". I screamed at him to call the cops if he wants and showed them where my car was scratched. After almost having a heart attack, I told them to f*** off and start acting like grown ups not a**holes.
I'm still pissed just thinking about it.
Careless people are a plague to nice cars!

^ no no, i don't think you get what he meant. it is well known that guys who take up 2 spaces or park on the diagonal often get more damage than guys who just park at the end, or whatever. the reason is that other people see taking up 2 spaces as a jerk move, and it pisses them off to the point where they feel compelled to inflict damage to the car - think: key scratch. imagine driving around a lot looking for parking only to see it is full, and because some jerk took 2 spots you are out of luck.

Dude...you think that's bad...just too my car into the dealer last week, and they had to replace the driver's window regulator mechanism, and ended up dinging the door from the inside! We'll see if they can fix it...very aggravating to say the least.

My car got dinged only once in my 15 months of ownership.
The irony is, my car got dinged when I parked on an island by myself.
So how did my car got dinged? Yup, people too lazy to put shopping carts back to where they belong. I walked out the store only to see a shopping cart right up my rear passenger door.

No easy solution to the actions of dirt bags.....since these people don't apparently care for their cars, perhaps the inconvenience of a flat tire might be better than paint thinner at getting their attention. You could also drag them into small claims court since you essentially already have a confession.
