Considering M37 instead of G37...

M56 sport = an extra $10,000 just to take the M37 performance (which is already pretty close to the G37) up to the levels of the G37...nah, I'll pass. If I end up spending in the mid/high 60's I'd be looking elsewhere. Doubtful I'll want to spend that much though.

I had a 2008 G37s 6mt..I enjoyed that car alot for 3 yrs. I wanted a bigger car so now I have the 2011 M37s and I'm so happy with my choice. I get just as many compliments and the performance is not that big a drop off as one might think. The interior is awesome and all the new gadgets are cool as well.

Yeah, the M is just screaming to have the wheel wells filled with bigger wheels and tires. The base M wheels makes the car look cheap.
I'm not sure what Infiniti is thinking on the base wheels on all its cars. The base wheels and the sport sedan wheels for the G is quite possibly the worst wheels I've seen on any car for quite a long time.

2011 Infiniti M37S Full Test
compared to the same guys reviewing the regular M37, which they liked better for everyday driving:
2011 Infiniti M37 Full Test
It seems they felt the larger 20" were part of the problem with the sport version. I've heard similar complaints about other cars with both 18 and 19 or 20" wheel options (the larger wheels giving a harser ride for everyday driving).
Anyone else who'd like to put in your 2 cents on the commentary in these reviews, feel free...

I'd still be interested in commentary on the M37S vs M37 review links I posted above. Seems like the main complaint (in other reviews too) of the S model is the 20" wheels and 4 wheel steering (though the 20's do look nicer). I'll need to find some rough roads for my test drive.
Been thinking about the M56 a bit more. I probably don't want to spend that much but depending what you compare it to, it's not a bad package for the money.
Also just noticed Volvo has a 2012 S60 T-6 R-Design due to be out in the summer (325HP, 354 torque) starting in the low 40's. Might have to check it out just for the heck of it. Not sure about Volvo's new owners in China though, but it sounds like they are aiming for the G37 & Audi S4 power points, and about midway in price.

IMO, if I were to get an M series Infiniti it would only be the M56S...
G37 seems like more of a sport sedan, and the M37 more of a luxury sedan. If you are looking for a type of car that is like the M, I would definitely look at the new 5 series BMW and the E class Mercedes also... both of those are great competitors to the M37.

I would definitely get the M if I had the money. It would of course have to be an "S" Model though because those rims are sick. Not a fan of the stiffer suspension on "S" models but I could definitely cope with it with the M37

the 20's ride a lot better than my G w/ 20's.... of course the non-sport model feels like a boat and quiet ....
i think honestly the best thing I love about the Sport package is the steering wheel.... it's leather wrapped and feels night and day vs the non-sport model M steering wheel.
power wise... my q/t mile time w/ just rear mufflers on is 13.728@101.55mph for my M37s ..... I'll be faster than a M56 by the end of the summer anyways

The M's aren't selling well as of late are there any dealer incentives, discounts that Infiniti is offering? Beshoff had a deal on memorial day $6000 off MSRP I'm wondering if dealers would lower the price even more if they continue to sit there.

it's a strong market for the mid-size luxury class with the redesigned 5-series, the new A6 arriving in a few months, the E-class, and the Infiniti M's... the Lexus GS is just a dinosaur that no one looks at.
Granted, we can add the Hyundai Genesis into this category

I looked at the M when I bought my G, but I liked the interior of the G just slightly better, but that's probably because I'm not a huge fan of wood. I started doing a bit of research on the M recently, because my boss wanted a fast car that gets decent gas mileage. Of course the M35 hybrid came to mind, and I convinced him to take a look at it. He loved it so much, he's buying one.

If the M were offered with a manual transmission like the 5-series, I would strongly consider it, but in the price range of an M37S or M56S, I'd look at the Audi S4 6MT, BMW 535i 6MT, and BMW 550i 6MT.
I think the M is a very attractive car inside and out, and I think Infiniti does a great job with their gizmos and gadgets, so this isn't about the brand; rather it's about an available manual transmission. I traded my 2004 S4 6MT against my current 2010 G37S 6MT because automatic tranny-only models didn't make my cut list. I really liked the 2010 S4, but with a $10-20K price difference between it and the G37S 6MT similarly equipped AND with our twins on the way, I decided to go with the G. I've been VERY happy with that decision, and if anything it's taught me just how much car you can get for the $$!
I may get flamed for mentioning this, but Acura has made significant cosmetic changes to the TL this year that tame its bucktooth styling considerably. If I were in the market again, I think I would include the TL SH-AWD 6MT this time around. It's possible that I still wouldn't be able to get past the exterior styling...I'd have to see one of the new ones in person first.
