First day with the G. O....M.....G!

Alright, I'm an old guy. The hot cars I use to drive were from the 60's. Well, actually, from the fifties cause I couldn't afford a new GTO or Road Runner, so I drove a 55 Chev with a transplanted 327 or a 59 Golden Commando with a 383. Fairly quick for the times, but nothing compared to the G. This car is amazing! Spent some time cruising on winding back roads. Drop it down into third and punch it into a curve and I can feel the centrifical force trying to throw me in the opposite direction (dampered by the sport seat) as I quickly blast past any reasonable foward visibility. Even with all season tires it corners like a cat on velcro. I expected it to be fun and "sporty", I didn't expect it to be a full on sports car. That leaves me with only 2 concerns. Where to find some rural curvy roads where I can play without endangering the public or drawing the police? How to demonstrate the improved gas mileage over my Highlander, that I told my wife to justify buying it?

welcome, and take it to a track lol. I don't think the G37 gets or can get better mileage than a Highlander. I think mine is close to our Armada.

Congrats on your new purchase. To answer your questions: first, take your G to a track day put on by your local Nissan or Z club. You'll learn how to drive on some real curves at hyper-legal speeds without endangering others or your license. NASA or SCCA events will even give you some driving lessons as a track novice. As for your wife, wait until you take a road trip to show her the luxury Infiniti can offer. Highway mileage is also impressive once the revs stay steady in overdrive. Have fun!

Congrats on the new purchase! I'm already on my 2nd G. '04----> '11.

You'll probably love it more, the more you drive. I know I do.

Glad you're having a blast in your new G, we're on our 2nd G too
If you think it's a beast now, try driving w/ the VDC off (only in a wide open area without other cars around at first). We get 29mpg on 80mph hwy cruising so I'm sure that's at least as good as a Highlander.

I have the 37S sedan and I drive it like a sporty car in DS all the time, paddle-shifters and all. I definitey don't drive like a crazy person, but I've never been pulled over in LA and I'm a teenager and have been driving for 2 years. I love the sedan. Great fast sedan with functionality and it seems like it doesnt attract as much attention as the coupe, but it still turns heads, even in West Los Angeles.

All in all, this car is FUN!!!!

Cruise control set @ 80 for about 750 miles and also pretty flat (New Mexico to Las Vegas). Mileage varies but I've gotten a best of 30 and a low of about 24. This is w/ 20s that are a couple pounds heavier than stock rims too

Congrats on dumping the ugly-box Soccermom Utility Vehicle and moving up to a real car with passion and driving excitement!

Damn I set my cruise at 70 on the interstate and I pull between 28 and 29 consistently (hand calculated).

The best i got from my 2011 G37s around 70-75mph is 26.5mpg to mostly to Florida or Carolina's. Even if i set a cruise control...the best i have seen for breif periods is 27.5mpg. How did you get 29mpg?

I will try on my next long trip...
