I endorse this statement, lol. I drive my car like I stole it as often as possible. Just perform all maintenance and check parts regularly for wear and tear.

The G was designed to offer high levels of performance and will deliver the goods if you drive hard; but regular aggressive usage and the related heat build up will most definitely shorten the life span of some of the major components including the engine, transmission, brakes, and tires. You would be in a state of denial to believe otherwise. If you plan to keep your G for many years, moderate driving habits are advisable with only occasional really hard driving.

I run it hard on some days by gunning the accelerator if Im the first in a traffic light or such but never go crazy on it or track it.

My questions is - does hard driving cause the G to deteriorate ? If so, what basically happens ? Is it the engine or tranny that begins to feel weak ?

Is this a car that is meant to be driven hard at all ?

The transmission is supposed to downshift aggressively when in drive sport mode. Don't like the aggressiveness? Keep it in Drive.

The car is built to be driven. Do so safely.

Talking of maintaining the G37 in top shape..

Brakes:
Planned upgrade - Brembo pads, shoes etc.

Tires:
I rotate them within the same side every 7500 miles. Will upgrade to Michelin's when the times comes

Filters:
I replaced the air filters with a Wix filter. Would have gone the K&N route as with my SUV but no one here has reported gains in sound or hp with washable filters.

Cabin Air Filter - Gona install Fram (carbon activated)

Engine:
I have switched to Mobil 1 Synthetic oil. Notice better cold starts.

What else ? I'm at 15k miles now..

How long do you plan to keep that Mobil1 in the engine?

For my money.....

When I test drove my 09, the salesman encouraged me to step on it. That pretty much sold me. So I say, what's the point of having 328 HP if you're not going to jump on it?

I lease, but I still take care of my cars like I owned.

You might want to get an used oil analyses done to see how it holds up to your driving. Mobil1 has not done well in Gs.

Hi KLB,
Where can I order this oil analysis and how would I send them a sample?

According to this thread more than 40% of respondents use Mobil 1 Synthetic with no reported problems. Can you please elaborate why you don't recommend it ?

I was one of those that said I did. That was until I had my oil analyzed.

This is a better thread to look in. It has UOAs that users have had done, including two I had done with Mobil1.

This is one of the companies that do OAs, and the one that did the analyses above.
Blackstone Labs

In general, Mobil1 has not held up nearly as well as other oils. If you are going to keep to a shorter interval you should be fine.

Yes I do. The UOAs for the PU were great. I run it 7500 miles, and Blackstone said it would hold up longer if I wanted.
