Not trying to get into a fight here, bear in mind the way the cars are packaged may be different in the US, not sure.
Ok, then yeah it's packaged differently here.

- "sport package" with gives you "M style" wheels, and an body kit
- "technology package" which gives you the lane departure, surround view camera, blind spot detection, and a rear view camera
-"executive package" which gives you heated and cooled seats, rear sunshade, satallite radio, and a heads up display
- "dynamic handling package" which gives you adjustible suspension

The only stand alone options are "rear seat entertainment" and "night vision"

Omitting the "dynamic handling package" and night vision only drops the price about $4,000 making the 5 Series still $16,000 more in Canada.

The other 3 packages are needed to give the 5 Series a similiar load out to a M56S.

I just saw the A7, played around in the interior and really took some time looking at the exterior. It is gorgeous, just stunning from all angles. Its like the Porsche Panamera for the "poor man". The interior is more like the A8, with the touch sensitive pad where you write letters with your fingers. At times 0-60 does not matter and the A7 presents one of those times. It weighs 4200lbs and with 310hp and over 300tq, its good for mid 5s to 60, not that it matters. Check it out first, I promise you, its a decision you will never regret.

The A7 is just a step above the M37 in price range (over $10,000!!!). I'm also willing to bet that similary optioned the disparity could get close to $20k. Without checking though, I'm sure it could easily be $15k.

If the deal was good would you switch to an M?
One little note... the M weighs about 300 lbs more than the G37. Not really much of a difference.

And yes I would.

I would have gone with the M, except that where I work right now, the parking spaces are very narrow, so the couple of extra inches of width would be a problem. And more importantly, parking a $50K car in the company lot would give the wrong impression...

At my current age and no kids yet, the G was the correct choice. In a few years when my wife and I start having kids, and my desire for modding and driving fast (hopefully) goes way down, I will really want the M. The M56s would be a dream to have, but just that at the price, a dream.

if the M37 had everything you wanted in it, yes

if it was like a good deal on a M37 cause the offer came around but it wasn't up to par as the G37S you were coming from, no.

if they are giving you higher than market value and you're not under your car at sale... it can be considered.

I was going for the M when I bought the G but could not get over the payment amount although I could pay it without a problem. I guess I'm frugal
