G37xS to G25x
Finally I did it
My G37 was in for service and I got the G25X as a loaner. That car is a blast to drive, feels as fast as the G37 and it can get you into trouble easily. Its torquey on the freeways absolutely no problems merging or overtaking when needed. Besides it also benefits from the big brother looks, people assume they are dealing with 328 horses when they see it.
I took it to my proving grounds where it got to my mark some 20mph slower than the G37. However there was something wrong with the way I took off since it took almost 2s to get to 20mph.
My +15,000 miles G37 is at 19.5mpg, the G25 with 10% of the mileage has 19.1mpg. Bear in mind though that the engine is far from being broken in and heavy footers are probably abusing it, so the mpg will be higher with time. At 1000 miles I was probably seeing 16mpg in my car.
Overall, I was impressed, at no point did I feel like the car was underpowered, its a very good package.

I have a G25x loaner this weekend too. I agree it is plenty quick around town, but not so much on the highway. Stomp on it and it gears down a couple of gears and passes cars fairly quickly, but also quickly runs out of steam. By comparison the G37 feels like a rocket that just won't quit. Still, pretty impressive for 2.5 liters.

I equate it to buying a V6 Mustang or Camaro. Why you'd want a muscle car with no muscle is beyond me.
That's just my opinion, though. If you can't afford what you want, either wait or pick a different car. No sense in pretending.
But they are selling, so obviously the market is there.

The reality is, the majority of people buying a G sedan are not looking for power. These are generally people that are comparing it to an Acura TSX/TL, Lexus IS/ES, BMW 328, etc. I don't think most people realize just how powerful the g37 really is. I'd imagine a lot of people are pretty turned off by the low mpg and higher price tag than some others. There is no way that I'd ever recommend that my mom look at a g37. A g25 on the other hand is right up her alley! I'd imagine more of the market is like her than it is like us. Most people will never utilize the power, so why pay for it and suffer on mpg.
Infiniti has done a really crappy job advertising and promoting this car though, nobody seems to know it even exists! Although that seems to be their M.O. for whatever reason.

I haven't driven it yet, but can't ever imagine going from a 328hp car, and admiting that the 218hp G25 is fast.
And as for the price tag, have you actually priced out the G25? It's not really that cheap. The MSRP on the G25x is only $3000 cheaper than the G37x. To me, loosing 110hp, for only $3000 savings dosn't make sense to me. From what i've heard, the fuel economy is not really that great on the G25 either. Just my opinion, but to each it's own.

You guys in the U.S. are pretty lucky. In Canada we get screwed. I just priced out the G25x & the G37x, both with premium packages. The price difference is $30 per month. That's just the online price, so not sure if dealers negotiate more on G25's as opposed to the G37's. But in a nutshell, us Canadians get screwed on everything, especially cars!

305 hp for the new V6 and 412 for the new V8. I drove the 2011 GT, because that 412 hp almost had me convinced to buy one... I wasn't impressed with the power or the fit/finish.
A coworker has the V6 Camaro. Meh.
