Jerk at 20 mph

Okay so when i'm driving at around 20-30 mph (+ or - 5 mph) and i let go of gas and gently accelerate again the car jerks. ALSO when i brake and the car down shifts, it jerks as well.
all of this is happening when i drive around 20-30 mph.

is it normal?

im guessing you have the 7at trans? try searching 7AT reflash. its got more than 50 posts in it and their are alot of similarities mentioned which come close to your jerking issue.

mine did this brand new and has done it after my wife has driven the car. after i drive it for a couple days the issues go away and my 7at seems butter smooth.

also if you have the shifter in DS mode it will downshift agressively causing a slight jerk when breaking and it will downshift aggressively while excellerating

I'm havin the same problem, imo it is not normal. Suspect valve body is all out of timing. If I do a full throttle launch, when I let off it takes forever to actually shift.
even ds has been at like 6k when slowing down from high speed.
have a service appt monday, mabye I can then shed some light on the problem. It has also been very slow in d mode, the shifts are getting lazy.

Hope the dealer could figure that out for you. GL.

will the 7at reflash also address the issue that when i let go of gas and step on the accelerator again at about 20 mph, the car jerks? Because as far as i know the 7at is only good for downshift.

my boy just had his done, like butter now.
until then,just drive in ds.
the only downside, until it's reprogrammed it's gonna do alot of jerking. It's like it has no idea what gear to into & when, maybe it's getting confused. I mean if you shift manually it does not make that jerking in the drivetrain.

Yea, i dont feel safe driving in DS. Cuz i mostly drive local and couple of times when i braked, the rev went really high and though i was going to rear end someone.
Unless i change gears every 30 seconds which is just annoying.

No, the reflash won't fix this. As has been discussed in the reflash thread, this is just the *unfortunate* nature of the 7AT and TCM.

edit: If you become aware of it and know it will happen, you can generally avoid it by keeping the MPH above or below the spot where it happens. I've also found that in the unsweet spot it occurs, if you push the pedal down 50% there is little to no lag/hesitation and it finds the gear immediately. But then you have to back-off quickly lest you shoot forward faster than you want. This solves cornering and stuff for me, but stop-and-go traffic is awful.

You folks need to see the Tranny Re-Programming thread all 33 pages of it.

Sorry I don't know how to cite the thread into these comments.

I too experience this....probably the least favorite aspect of the car. I think it is the nature of this transmission.....very disappointing for a $40,000 car. That said, I've never owned a car that did not have some type of unfavorable characteristic.
