"Distance to Empty" Good or Bad :P

Well, with my Navigation screen set to show my Fuel Economy, I just cant help resist looking at it every now n then. Whenever, I step on the gas or hit the brakes, I have to look at it to see how many miles have dropped. Though the details are for our comfort, sometimes I see I lose concentration on the road. Anyone else tempted as badly as I am or is it just me

sometimes when im driving back from NJ and im not in any rush....i try to drive as effecient as possible....which means a constant focus on the MPG meter and speed.

i must say its very difficult because ur focusing more on the speed and throttle than on the driving itself

I refuse to look at that crap. It discourages me from stomping on the gas... and we don't want that, now, do we?

When I first got it I watched it, but I like the VQ growl too.

I use the one in the dash. The one in the nav unit is good, but the one in the dash is right there next to the rpm dial and speedometer. Makes watching how you are driving and gas consumption easier.

Though, I am thinking of turning each off because it is holding me back...haha.

I think even worse is that constantly changing (like every few seconds) mpg bar graph display, and totally lol that it goes to 50mpg (at least on my 07 & 09). Very distracting and basically useless IMO.

yup, the one in the nav unit is better..I use it to calculate the mpg for the full tank and the one in the dash for my trips....i just cant seem to turn it off...

very true....it fluctuates so very frequently, but IMO at the end of the day when I have to fill the tank again and calculate the mpg in the traditional way, i feel the nav unit is pretty much accurate in displaying the mpg...

At least in the non-Nav setups a click push of the Status button will change the realtime info to climate settings or no info at all, which I routinely do. I don't want the aftermath discouragement of seeing the numbers go down after I briefly set my VQ free!
