Buying damaged goods for the sake of a badge is a bad idea, but it's your $$.
OP posted it here to get G owners opinions. Did he post to Hyundai forum for similar response? I dunno.

My recommendation is to not take his uncle's car. If he's looking at a new/used Hyundai, he should certainly compare it to a similar year/condition G. Then he can make a decision based on direct preference. Not familial obligation.

I know your joking, but Hyundai is no joke, they're making the biggest strides of any automaker right now and certainly aren't content where they are. I wouldn't buy a current Genesis Coupe, but the next generation will certainly get a look, and the Sedan right now is very competitive w/ other larger luxury sedans. Hyundai has taken steps to make their paint process better than the Japanese and their current 2.0 turbo seems to really put out some impressive numbers. They may not be right where Infiniti is in regards to overall quality, performance, and luxury, but if they stay their current course they will be there pretty quick.

No, but I did own an 06 Sonata Limited and it was a very good car for the price. No where in my post did I say Hyundai is the car to buy, I was simply stating that they're a brand that's come a long way and continues to make big improvements across their line.

Koreans are making great strides. They are going to do to the Japanese what the Japanese did to the American car companies.

I dont disagree. Their fit and finish still has a ways to go though. They have definitely stepped up their game and are delivering models that buyers are interested in.

Just like I don't think Infiniti is in the same league as Acura and Lexus related to fit and finish. How many bubble seats, curling dashes, and soft paint threads are on this forum?

Really? My '05 TL had over 100K miles and never had a seat issue. In fact not a single interior finish issue ever. Paint was great. Body panels fit pristinely till the day I handed it over to Infiniti. People would routinely get in my car and ask me if my car was brand new.

Sorry she had bubbles.

2 issues I have with my G. Soft paint and too smart 7AT. Other than that, the car is solid. The fits are good. Never a rattle or other fitment issues.

My G has little over 9000 miles. Average miles per hour is around 15. Simple math, 9000 miles / 15 MPH = 600 hours. My butt has rubbed the driver seat for over 600 hours in NYC traffic and no bubble has developed yet.

Even if there are bubbles on the seat, I still think it is acceptable. The leather on the G's front seats are kind of soft. So if there is bubble, its just the nature of the soft leather. I guess if they don't want bubble to develop, they could use rougher leather instead.

I would say, in general, Infiniti fitment is on par with Acura. Lexus IMO is superior to both.

I'm with you man. I just notice more rattles and noises inside the car than my Acura had. But maybe that's because I'm driving the G so much harder than my old car, simply because it has so much more power. LOL!
I'm also concerned about the peeling dash situation that has come up on a number of other posts. That just seems unacceptable in a car of this calibre.
Anyway time will tell.
