Why would you take over the payments on a car that's been damaged to that extent? Your Uncle isnt doing you any favors, forget about that car dude.
Re: Genisis - it's a Hyundai, not sure what you expected from a bunch of guys on an Infiniti forum (who obviously care about brand), but regardless of how far Hyundai has come, it's still associated with cheap/budget minded cars.
The G is a better car in every respect. Forget the Uncle's car and use your cash to get into a used G that hasnt been in any accidents.

Not a fan of the Genesis Coupe but your uncles G37 sounds like it was really abused and not taken care of. Not to mention suspension damage and Lord knows what else may have gone wrong. I was riding with my step brother in his Moms brand new maxima(back in 06) when he took a curve too fast and lost control. The car spun about 3 times then hit a curve. Hit the curve so hard the side airbags deployed(The one in the seat is painful btw. Felt like someone punched me in the stomach). The car didnt have a single scratch on it but the frame was so bent that the car looked as if it were going sideways when going straight. The car was fixed after 3mths but it never drove the same again. Get a car that hasn't been wrecked.

I agree. If you have a decent relationship with him now, it will surely go downhill as soon as the first problem arises with the car. It has been said many times: "Never buy a car from a friend or relative".

It's pretty interesting that the Genesis Sedan is quite nice, refined, quiet and the fit & finish is pretty damn good. The Genesis Coupe looks like a small step up from the old Tiburon, and I've never seen so much cheap looking plastic in a vehichle that's supposed to be compared and cross-shopped w/ our Infinitis. If they can get the coupe in the same league as the sedan then the discussion would be interesting, as of now the G is clearly much better.

Seriously, a 2010 G for $24K. with 12,000 miles??? Worth a look see. Resale is good on G's. If you don't like it doesn't look like you'll take much of a hit. New Genius may be a different story.
