fram fresh breeze interior filter

I was at Walmart and saw the Fram fresh breeze interior filter for $16. These have baking soda and charcoal in them. So I picked one up and put it in. Does anyone have any input on them or basically its just another cabin filter. I did notice the material it was made from was a lot thicker than stock. Anyone know if the charcoal and baking soda scrubs your farts out of the air quickly?

I had one of those in my car. Meh not sure if there is a difference or not. I highly doubt it could be worse. I think it helped with the slight stinky AC smell in the summer.

I have a 2003 Mazda6s that I am getting rid of tomorrow when I pick up my new 2011 G37 sedan

IMO, you need to use decent chemicals to neutralize the odor issues - filters and the like do very little.

I am a big fan of Chemical Guys - their sprays are great as are their leather treatments. Other than OPP (Optimum Protectant Plus - the greatest thing you can ever buy for the interior of your car surfaces) the Chem Guys odor neutralizer ranks a close 2nd.

Here's a LINK to the product. there's no affiliate ID or anything here, I don't get a kickback or anything. I spray a bit in the outside air intake in my mazda and a few sprays on the floor mats and any wierd odors disappear. There will be a fairly strong orange scent for a few hours but it will fade and then there will be no smell at all.

I have it on the car now. It works just like any of the other filters i've had on the car. It does seem heftier than both OEM and MicronAir. For the most part they should all work the same way.

There are various types of odors. Most chemicals do not accomplish what a good air filter can do. Where chemicals usually dissipate after a while, an air filter continuously works to keep both outside contaminants, or as the OP expressed, even in-cabin ones, at bay.

True, a cabin filter does work wonders on particles in the air. If your stink is from stuff inside your fabrics and surfaces (floor mats are often a guilty party here) then chemicals can help.

I can tell you from first hand experience that a cabin air filter will do very little to rid your car of the mildew smell from an a/c unit. drying out the unit during the last mile or two of your drive (by not recirculating air and turning the a/c off while still running the fan) works wonders. Chemicals can neutralize whatever is in the system generally if you spray a bit in the outside air intake while air recirc is turned off.

If you go to: FRAM - Application Look-up

and check the Cabin Air Filter box and go through the pull down menus.
