I am totally in agreement here. I'm extremely practical, which means I want to get a lot for my money. I am also a huge car nut and I research cars all the time.
Acura TL - cost more, less hp and FWD - PASS!
BMW 335i - cost a lot more, less hp, less stuff unless you want to pay even more and then your maintenance or repair after warranty will break the bank - PASS!
Lexus IS350 - cost more, less hp otherwise a decent alternative but - PASS!
Mercedes C 350 - See BMW, but the Mercedes has A LOT less hp - PASS!

I'd say cabin tech is a draw. Have you seen the latest 3 sedan? They're quite well matched. The iDrive wheel is also nicely placed though still clumsier than touch.

this may sound crazy but if you look at the big picture and practicality of it all, then yes the G def. makes more sense, my coupe is fully loaded and I cant imagine what most of it would cost on a similarly equipped 335i.
HOWEVER, I notice a massive night and day difference when I drive my brothers 335 coupe. Although its automatic, it just has this finesse to it, I feel more connected to the road, I feel less body roll on turns, the stock brakes are smoooooooth and bite very well rather than my stock akebonos.
There many ways you can look at this, yea for the money its priced quite a lot more than the G, there both great cars however I personally feel the 335 is a better car, and if I were to have the opportunity of getting one, I will not think twice. It is worth the extra money to me

Really? i have read lots of threads on here stating the grounding kits help lag between shifts? Is everyone making that up?

The main deciding factor for me, between the G37 and the 335i, was reliability.
After you have owned a BMW, like the 540i that I owned for 4 years, that had to be continuously brought back to the dealer for one thing after another, the BMW loses a lot of appeal.

Maybe the 335i is quicker, but because it has a twin freakin turbo. And that straight six with TWO turbos makes less hp (300) and 31 more lb ft of torque. Yeah, that 31 lb ft is what makes it quicker (that and the 2 turbos)

The 335 puts down the same peak power as a G on a dyno, and has a MUCH larger area under the curve.
The G37 doesn't have a chance in a drag race.
Better value? Yes. Is "a little quicker" worth 9 grand? It is to all those 335 owners out there, and there are quite a few.
Lets not even get started on the chassis.
It's really a shame that the 335 is plagued with reliability issues. That alone will turn me away from it.

I have a lot of friends that own 328/335/M3, and EVERY 335 owner bought it because it is the bargain buy.

I think, in general, 335 owners do look into performance. However, everyone I know that owns either a 328, 5 series, or 7 series, rarely go over 3500 RPM. What a waste. All they know is the word "BMW". They don't really care about performance. They buy the car because it's a BMW. Out of all these people I know, none of them own a 335...because they are not car people. I think the people who choose 335 over 328 know the difference.
