There is a product by Auto Enginuity that allows you to set things kind of like a Consult III (it also acts as a data logger/scanner).

You need to buy the base product and the enhanced Nissan/Infiniti add-on, I want to say it would be about 350 or so....far less than a Consult III but not the cheapest either.

My Honda key has the keys recessed and I've never once had a problem. Infiniti should at minimum, do the same.

My salesman told me by default for 2011 they made it press and hold, where it wasnt like that before....said they were getting too many complaints about the trunk opening by accident.

Both my 2007 coupe and 2011 sedan are press and hold. I've had a few altima rentals an I'm pretty sure those are also press an hold.

My 2009 sedan is press and hold too for the trunk.

My parents' 1997 Maxima was also press and hold.

Press and hold for the trunk is nothing new for Nissan/Infiniti.

I wonder if it's part of each dealer prep.

The power window down function can be disabled too.

I'm not sure why Nissan included a remote trunk release on the intelligent key. I just always use the button on the trunk.

They need to incorporate a hinged cover or shield for these remotes. Just a quick flick of a button on the side and it pops open. If you accidentally press the side button while it's in your pocket, it likely won't have room to flip open. Even a slide cover would be useful.

Wow, crazy. I've been using an intelligent key for the last 3 years (not specifically an Infiniti) and have never accidentally hit a button. Then again, I carry my key in one pocket, my phone in the other, and my wallet in the back. There's nothing else in my pocket with the key, except other keys. I also don't borrow my girlfriend's pants, lol.

As long as turning the remote off did not affect the push buttons on the doors and starting I would be fine with that ides. The only time I ever use the buttons is when it is by accident.

Yeah, these key fob/push button start setups actually make my life easier. I just toss the keyfob into an inside pocket in my jacket and go. I never leave it in my pants/jeans, that might be why I never have a problem.

I liked an idea someone on one of the forums had....tear apart a keyfob and put the RF chip into your shoe (not sure about how to stash the battery). Then you dont need the fob and can start the car as long as you have your shoes on.

After having the car for about 6 months, I came out of a resturant with the wife to find the windows half down and it was raining. Ouch!. There was no permanent damage, just wet seats, but if I could disable that feature, I would.
I have for kicks used the FOB to lower the windows, but it is really a useless feature as you have to be so close to the car that it really does not have time to cool the car anyway before you get in.
I also occasionally get the alarm to going off in my garage. It is usually when I am bending over tying my shoes. This is not a big deal, but maybe I will try the suggestion to put the key somewhere else beside my front pocket.

Same as me, no problems whatsoever. There's a 1 or 2 second delay for windows down and trunk release, so it only happens when I actually push and hold the button, no phantom button presses here.

BTW, this thread reminded me of this

an on/off switch would be silly. recessed buttons would make more sense

you can do a number of other things to avoid your issues. I would suggest putting it in a jacket pocket, or getting a case for it

I hate the "trunk open" feature. If I need to get into the trunk, I will press the button. I have found mine "open" on several occasions - concerns me due to a sub and an amp in the trunk. I will mess with some of the adjustments referenced on this thread -- thanks.

I have never intentionally used the windows feature and if I keep the car another ten years I never will. They did open unintentionally on one occasion so I will try to fix that, too.
