Did some google search, looks like it's not just a G phenomenon.

Here's one thread.

Skimming through the post it would make sense that our exhausts system is coated with anti-corrosion. I would assume people with an aftermarket exhaust may not smell this burning rubber smell?

Thanks for the link!

Add me to the list. I thought it may be a heated seat issue. It is cold and wet/snowy here. Maybe it's the floor vents heating my all weather mats?

Happened again this morning when I got to work. Always when I come to a stop I smell it. **duh** when I'm moving the smell probably gets blown away. The road conditions are wet from the melting snow/slush. Drove normally to work; basically like I'm in no rush This smell is worrying me a bit. Hesitant to take it to the $tealer b/c I'm expecting to hear "can't duplicate the issue." I do have other issues with the car that I need taken care of..and I can get a loaner...Hmmmm...I think I'm gonna take it in. Wish me luck! I'll post if they actually find out what the smell is from....

Ideally it would be great to have brought my car in yesterday or today or sometime soon. But I have to wait till the 26th to drop her off. I'm almost 99% sure I'm gonna get the "we can't duplicate the problem" response. But hopefully I'll get to report something back....to be continued....

I would assume it's the road grime burning / evaporating off our exhaust or any hot areas under the car.

It's not wet but cold and frozen. I don't smell it.

I only notice this smell after I've driven 20+ minutes, to me its like a burning oil smell. I have no leaks, fluids are full so maybe is just me roasting tires?

Same here. I also have a strong exhaust odor on startup.

Mine smells like burning clutch with tc on or off so I would imagine it's the centre differential and not brakes.

On idols start up your engine doesn't burn off all of the fuel and cats don't start working until they heat up that happens with all gasoline powered cars
