Constant beep while stopped at light on slippery road

Several days ago, we had some snow and the road was slippery. I was on my way to work and light snow was falling intermittently. For the first 10 miles or so, everything was OK except for the ocassional flashing of the "slip" light on the dash.

Then I stopped at a traffic light and I hear this constant beep (either in D or N) just like the beep you'd hear from the park assist when the car is too close to something. And the beep does not go away until I drive off and get to around 20mph. At the next light, the exact same thing happens. The car does slip some when going from a standstill. Once I got onto the highway, which was cleared of snow, there is no such a problem.

Now that the snow has melted away, it hasn't happened again.

Any idea what was going on? Thanks in advance.

Radar was reading the snow flakes as a naerby barrier. Used to happen on my previous car a lot (and it cut the stereo volume down to almost zero every time the park assist went off to be sure you could hear it). Hence why I wasn't disappointed that my G was missing that feature. The rear camera is much more useful. If you need park assist at the front of a car, you shouldn't have a driver's licence.

^ I don't think our cars work like that...? That or I'm misunderstanding what you're getting at. I know on the Range Rovers, they have proximity sensors all around the car, but our G's don't have anything like that. OP states that he heard the blips as he was at a STOP light; he wasn't moving, and since our cars don't have proximity sensors...*shrug*

I wasn't even aware our cars made any sort of "bleeps" when slipping? Hm...dealership visit? I'm sure others will chime in...sorry for the useless post

Like Marc Collins was saying, it's probably snow/dirt on your parking sensors. The samething happened to me; wiped them, all good.

The parking sensors are proximity sensors. They were interpreting the snow as a nearby object hence the beeping.

If it becomes an issue again, you can always turn it off with the toggle switch by the VDC and Trunk buttons.

But the OP said he was in D or N. It's true that I've had the rear sonar beep constantly when there is snow, but ONLY when in Reverse. Of course, if there is a short somewhere, anything can happen.

In Europe too. I don't know about China but the EU market also has headlight washers.

Indeed, my G37 (China version) is equipped with front/rear sonars as well as headlight washers.

I spoke with the service department today. They told me the beep has nothing to do with slipping. It's just that snowflakes were triggering the sonar warnings. They said this type of warning goes away when the car reaches 15MPH even when sonar senses snowflakes. I think it makes sense.

Thanks for your all inputs.
