New G37X - Tips for better performance and mileage
Guys,
I just purchased a 2011 G37X. It just has around 800 miles on it. I am basically looking for some useful tips to get the best performance and mileage from my vehicle. I am sure there are certain ways we should not drive a new vehicle and certain precautions we need to take for better maintenance of the vehicle....
Any useful tips would be great..Thanks

For sure you shouldn't gun it Other than that try to restrict your revs lower than 3k...I find that going under 3k RPM is adequate enough for normal driving. I get roughly ~16.5 mpg city doing this (which isn't bad considering my engine only has 700 miles). Ultimately it just comes down to how strong you can resist dropping your lead foot on the throttle haha

Thanks...So, is the MPG bound to improve with more miles on the vehicle...I mean, if I hit around 20 MPG right now, I should be getting more once the gasolines are better in summer and as the vehicle is driven more right?

There's a neat little thing in the gauge cluster to let you calculate your MPG on any given trip/drive...
It's the screen that has MPH and MPG sitting vertically.
It's basically a trip meter that tells you the average MPH and MPG of
any one trip, provided you reset it to zero before starting off.
I reset it when I left my house for the office this morning, and it
refreshed at least 2-3 times a minute to recalculate the average MPH
and MPG for my trip. When I arrived work, it reported that my average
MPH was 49 and MPG was 24.4. When I left later in the day to go run a
work errand, I reset it and got 34 mph and 18.6 MPG.
When you start the car up and set that option to display, it won't
change the numbers that are currently there. You need to press the
white dot (second button on the right side of the instrument cluster)
and hold it until the numbers reset to ------. It will then start calculating your MPG and average MPH of that trip.
Hope this makes sense...

Ah, don't forget, what climate you are driving in too!! In the North east US, it's C O L D......warming up a cold engine consumes lots of gas, sitting in traffic (there's plenty of that around NY), AND the Winter Blend of Gas in the NE (more ethanol, I beleive) brings down the MPGs...

I'd only expect an improvement of 2-3mpg tops after break-in. But that's based on my own experience on two separate G's and my non-conservative driving manner.

Thanks Guys...
I live in CT, which is not very cold as in Central US, but still around 15-20F. So, I guess I should some good improvement in mileage once the summer kicks in and my vehicle has few thousand miles on it...
