Any idea what this annoying rattle may be?

Well, after 8 months of owning my rattle free G sedan, I finally get a really annoying rattle/knocking sound in the front passenger door. It typically happens when I hit a small bump or even when I turn hard sometimes. I picture a marble hanging from a string that occasionally knocks against the inside of the door to give you an idea. A real bumpy road can make it go crazy though. A heavy bass song can also make it rattle some, but not sure if that's the same rattle.

I've beat around on the lower inside portion of the door but cannot re-create the sound. I think it's coming from the lower section, maybe close to the door speaker but not sure.

I am reluctant to take the door panel off but very tempted. Any G owners have this knocking sound in one of their doors?

Hitting it is probably just perpetuating the problem. There might just be something loose, taking the door panel off is easy. It's worth saving a trip to the dealership if you take your time.

I'd guess it might possible be the lock cable. I wouldn't open the door if it's not inconvenient to go to the dealer... While it's relatively easy to take off the panel, if you break even one little clip or something, you'll be paying to replace it.

Hit it harder! Maybe try some duct tape.

I swear to god, why do these 38k cars have a kazillion more rattles than my 2001 Honda CR-V? Which, btw, was rattle-free when I sold it in 2010. And I beat the $h!t out of that thing, I was not its friend. I want to lease a 2012 or 2013 (new model/engine?) G37 but it has got to have (a) a better build quality in respect to rattles, and (b) more HP and more TQ.

Taking door panel off (abridged from FSM):

Remove finisher on the inside of the door lock/handle and remove (1) bolt. (this is a small flat plastic piece that is INSIDE the whole door locking/handle assembly)

Remove window opener switch assembly (big plastic piece that houses all door switch and handle) from the back and unhook all harnesses and remove (2) bolts. You'll want to wedge a tool between the soft part of the armrest and the hard plastic of the door handle plastic, and pry up carefully. I'd use a plastic body panel removal tool but a prybar wrapped up with cloth might work too.

Remove step lamp (bottom rear of the door).

Pull out only the clips at the bottom of door panel (it'll be very tight at first) near the step light.

Then you must move the door UP and out as the top of the panel slides into the door frame.

Then remove the speaker connectors.

I guess I'm looking my 09 with 24k still has no rattles, knocking on wood. But the washi trim around the center console makes all kinds of cracking sounds. Some times they even occur when the car is perfectly still.

Ive always noticed more rattles in colder seaseons. and tire air pressure also seems to play a role as well.

Yeah I think these cars are much quieter than the v35 Gs in general. I'd take any serious rattles to the dealership for warranty repair, it's worth a shot.
