Okay, we're getting a little OT..

Here is the television show on which the Garage419 guys used a Mini Cooper, and the Dynolicious app's accuracy was compared to a mustang dyno, and then a dragstrip timed run at Englishtown - the $13 iPhone app was dean on with the dyno and timeslips - it's pretty amazing. And it was G-tech, not dashawk that was the comparison home timing device.

Acceleration runs in the TL and G35 benefit
from mid- to high-rpm launches and require
more finesse than the IS 350’s floor-it-and go
automatic, supplementing its quick times
with stepless upshifts.

That is because the Acura and G were both 6 speed manuals and the IS was an automatic. Don't forget all those tests were with a G35S before the improvements in the G37S 7AT and the akebono brakes. ... I think numbers would be a bit closer to the IS, but not quite equal..

you're right. the is350 however though is geared for the 1/4 mile. have you seen one pull from top ends around 70+ mph? they simply...run out of steam.

yes, thank you eksigned - I chose Hypertech because it was cheap and easy - seriously, plus the gains looked better on paper than the COBB stage 1 - and now that Hypertech supports intakes and catbacks (at least informally, I've been told by a Hypertech engineer) all is good.

And if anybody bothers to watch the video, you'll see how accurate the Dynolicious app really is - it's not a toy.

and CV - the G8 was awesome, but the interior was almost as cheap as a pre-011 Charger (the new Chargers are awesome inside and out) but that G8 was fun as hell to drive. More fun than my G37. I had it stock with a canned tune from Cortex which also included a great tranny tune, and I could pop the rears loose and get a chirp if I floored it going 60. But mine had build quality issues, and I foresaw a future of much hanging out at Pontiac service bays, and I got rid of it for my second choice, the G37 (which has been a lot of fun in its own right). The G8 was much more visceral than my G37 - you could easily forgive it's crappy insides for the ride and power and handling.

However I couldn't forgive rear main seal leaks, constant control arm and ball joint issues, weird radio problems, AC issues, an ill-fitting driver's side door and heat shield flapping loose. And squeaky seals. It truly was a budget 5-series, right down to all the same build issues.

I am hoping the new Chevy Zeta sedan (Chevelle SS?) in 2012, which will be built in america, will fix all those issues so I can ****** one up. If gas isn't $4 gallon.

And then a month later, I think I downloaded a new tune from HT, and got this result:

I had another great run at 5.18 a few days later (from the above graph), and then, after my latest update and some great cold, dry weather (and new bridgestone hi-po tires, btw, with 245's on the rear) I got my PR:

so who knows? I do know that I went from 5.5 -5.6's to 5.2s and 5.3s on a regular basis with HT, and then my latest update gave me my holy grail, which was to get sub-5, and there you go. In fact, it was almost a GD 4.8 - I guess that's my next try. Hypertech and a broken-in engine that I drive the hell out of FW! Oh, and my inputted weight has stayed the same since I first started using DynoL as has my 1/4 mile 'strip' - but I'm showing a nice linear progression over time as the engine gets broken in, and the tunes get better. Oh, and here's my misc. results page, and the HP shown is DL's estimate at the crank - I have no way of accurately estimating drivetrain loss for the 7AT, so I let it grab crank numbers - 345 is still pretty nice with just a canned tune!
