Delaying License Plate install?

I kept my paper plates on until a week before they expired, mostly because I was too lazy to drive to the dealer to pick them up.
I installed the rear one but the front plate is still in the trunk. Many cars in Dallas have no front plate, it's a law but they don't enforce it.

So basically in the states that don't really care, people ride for years without permanent license plates to be able to evade tolls and red light cameras. You people in Cali are horrible. No wonder your state is slowly going down the toilet.
I'd trade your great weather year round for our fiscal stability even with no state income taxes any day of the week.

Slowly???? My non country listening, no cowboy boot wearing, year round sun loving, been to Texas one time and still a little scared from it, *** is ready to move that direction. So tired of paying for everybody else.

We pay for everybody else here too, but we just have more resources with which to do it. You guys worry about saving trees endangered condors and we all have a power plant, chemical plant, or a refinery in our back yard. It's a trade off. You have earthquakes, we have hurricanes. The women seem equally hot from my experience, but ours seem easier to talk for those of us who aren't ballers. A million dollar home here is where a retired hall of fame athlete lives, in Cali modes my 4 bedroom house is worth a million dollars.
It's all good, just busting chops.

Beware. Some law enforcement officers don't enforce front plates so that next time they want to stop you for possibly drinking and driving, they have probable cause to do so even if you aren't driving like a drunk since YOU HAVE NO FRONT PLATES. This is called a pretextual stop and is legal per the Supreme Court.
In CA, your vehicle may also get towed if not showing identification and it is parked illegally.
There are tons of other reasons to put on your plates, but tons of other reasons not to put them on.
Do the right thing.

I got my plates a month after i bought the car but didn't put it on until 4 months into my ownership. I wanted to push for 6 months but my parents made me put them on since they drive it and are afraid of tickets for now having them.
In Cali, we get dealer plates instead of temp plates with expiration dates like some states have.
here's a sample. as you can see there's a small sticker on the bottom of the windshield. it acts as our 'temp' sticker from the DMV and there's no expiration. it keeps us from putting our plates on right away.

I had custom plates on my TL. So as soon as I received my registration and plates for the G I went to the dmv to have my old plates transferred over. My plates went on as soon as I was able to.
I see no point in keeping the plates off to seem like you're driving a new car?

My dealer had me sign a paper that I will mount the front plate when providing me with the license plate bracket. It stated that they would not be held liable for breaking the law. The front bumper looks better without plates. I drove over a year without plates. I decided to get vanity plates and then put on the rear plate. I still haven't mounted the front plate. I'm in California, and have had no problems with the breaking the law
