I'm at about 4 months with free XM since I purchased my G. I think the dealership forgot to advise XM about the sale of the vehicle. Only downside is I only get like 30 channels- but they're all good and I mostly listen to my iPod anyway. Works for me.

I find that I need to turn it up once on XM radio stations and even between different XM radio stations. Yep I agree, sound quality varies. I took a one year deal in October - I have two accounts - at nice discount, but the future for XM/Sirius is dubious. Their stock is hanging on for dear life!! HD Radio is going to be the way to go for FREE

2008 G35x - 0 months, within a couple weeks of buying it, I got a letter saying my trial expired and they want me back

2011 G37x - 3ish months of XM/traffic/zagat guide/weather, not sure it's really worth it to subscribe though since I have smartphones...

Yeah I've established that I somehow got lucky and got a 12 month subscription (more like 10, actually).

I feel like it is kind of a waste of money, but just having that traffic light show up is nice. Also, since we don't have HD radio, XM is a nicer alternative, albeit a costlier one.

I'll never subscribe to XM again. When I bought my '07 G35, after my trial period, I paid for a 3 year subscription, I got some deal on it ... It was only like $240. Anyway, during the time my credit card expired (thank God).

I got an email from XM saying that they couldn't charge my card almost $600 for another 3 years subscription

When I initially paid for the 3 year service, I specifically asked if my account would automatically be renewed, thus charging me. The woman on the phone said absolutely not. I'd get a reminder in the mail about 2 weeks before my subscription would end and I'd have to call and extend my service.

After I got the email saying they tried charging my card for almost $600 I called XM to cancel. They told me that they didn't have any specials going on... I said "I don't care about any specials. I don't want the service anymore". Then they magically pulled all these deals they could give (I guess they pulled them out of thin air since they originally said they didn't have special pricing).

Anyway, during those 3 years, I listened to XM maybe a total of 90 minutes, not worth it for me to pay....

Oh to top it off, they kept calling me over and over and over trying to get me to sign up for service again (with all these new deals they could cut me). Everytime they called, I told the NOT call me anymore and add me to their do not call list. They finally stopped calling, after I threatened legal action for violating the do not call rules...

It's funny, I have a number of Infiniti vehicles on my lot that have free subscriptions. I mean, there are so many times that I take customers on a test drive to find that the XM subscription is still going. Just yesterday, on a test drive of an M I found my first vehicle that had the XM service cancelled and I have been on plenty of drives only to find the XM service is running.

How bad does (they can't be) Sirius and/or XM suck? Let me count the ways...

They are the same company, but still completely separate. As a result, you won't find any sort of multi-car discount if one is on XM and the other on Sirius, even though the programming is suspiciously familiar.

The billing is a joke. I never pay more than $74 or so per year, but then they beg for a credit card for payment so they can HAMMER you at the end of the year for a ridiculously high amount.

The sound quality is less than FM, in my experience.

Most recently, they decided to double bill me for service. When I called, they explained that they had set up two accounts on the same car, and then proceeded to cancel the active account rather than the inactive account. It took 2 hours and 3 phone calls to resolve this, including an animated chat with one idiot that was convinced that I needed "dealer service on my radio" because she couldn't activate my radio from the inactive account. If that sounds confusing, imagine living it. The manager made it right, though, by explaining that "we're all human".

Commercial-free my ***. There may be less commercials, but they constantly advertise for themselves. Frankly, I'd rather hear about McDonalds than to hear another self-promotion for "The Blend".

Remember how exciting streaming Netflix was, right up to the point when you realized that it's the same crap that's on HBO all the time? Same point, but with radio.

Other than that, it's great!

I was supposed to get all the XM plus the best of sirius but noticed I was not getting any of the best of channels so after calling and calling and calling (I would not talk to Manila) I got through to someone in Canada who extended my trial until the end of April. It was supposed to end March 7th.

I ended up getting about 5 months on mine. My sister had the entire 39 month lease without it expiring. Of course, she hardly ever used it. Neither did I, but it was nice to have when i had it.

Got a letter in the mail last month to resubscribe. They were offering 12 months for $77. I've heard of people getting 5 months for $20. I would consider it if it was that cheap. Otherwise, my iPod and the regualr station are good enough for me!

Not sure how, but when they called my friend at the end of his free trial they offered him a lifetime subscription for like $200. I never got any such offer myself...

The 2 main comedy stations, blue-collar comedy and RawDog, are pretty much just commercial stations w/ a sprinkle of comedy thrown in, really sucks that you pay for a subscription service and still get blind-sided by commercials. My wife likes the music, otherwise I'd be just fine w/ CDs and my MP3 player.
