I love my G but if I had 50K to spend on a ''performance coupe'' I would buy the BMW 135 M for 47K instead of the IPL G coupe

I am not sure what are we paying that extra dough for? To demand a $50k price tag....performance needs to be in M3 range.

I thought the M3 was 60k and up with options.

I do agree with the price to performance though. Infiniti has been known to be the bargain luxury sport car.
For 50K I would expect around 360 crank HP and slightly more uprated suspension and brakes.

Or solve all forms of performance needs by reducing weight and adding a few more welds into the chassis/body in IPL manufacturing. Keep in mind luxury, so noise cancellation must remain.

IPL = bad joke

And of course it is possible to have the same car with more HP go slower. Think about it. The HP difference is negligible....so right off the bat the car should perform about the same. Then factor in different cars, drivers, road surfaces, temperature, wind, etc.. and it is easy to see that even two completely identical cars tested can have different results based upon the conditions listed above. So am I surprised at the IPL test results? Not at all....the extra few HP really doesn't mean anything at all. It's just not enough to make a real difference in performance.

Think about it
That is what I am thinking, how is it possible with more horsepower yet it go a whole 0.5 sec slower than the regular G37 coupe ?

the IPL weights 3,696 lbs, not that much more than a regular G37's weight(3,633).

NOT EVEN IN THE SAME PRICE RANGE !

The IPL is $48k and comes Fully Loaded with every options possible.
The M3 is $60 WithOut any Options at all. A Fully Loaded M3 will be exactly $75k(Not Kidding at all).

A BIG difference !

Will there be IPL sedans so that we would finally have some Infintii performance parts for the sedans?

Based on the test specs....I think it's funny as hell that my stock powered '09 7AT sedan will pull away from the new IPL coupe. If you're going to call it the "Infiniti Performance Line", it MUST do just that....perform. What a disappointment. They should have done something more with the suspension/stance, scrapped the junky body changes, and just turbo'd or SC'd the 3.7 with an exhaust to match. Duhhhh.

no surprise. it's similar to what nissan does with the z...make it ugly, make it cost more, make it exactly as fast.

Off topic, but you guys are lucky. In Canada a fully loaded M3 is almost $100,000.

These are not the "performance" parts you are looking for

This review lacks any real information such as the overall driving dynamics on the track. How the engine feels with the new programming. Did Nissan make any minor modifications to the suspension to improve handling? At the end, inside line isn't Best Motoring.

what im shocked about is the slalom which was only 67.5 (while it stiffer and supposed to be more responsive in the IPL) if i remember correctly the g37S coupe got 71.3 so either the weather conditions were really bad or maybe worn out tires or this dude cant drive

I saw one in person today (lucky me!) when I went to pick up my LE.

Told the sales guy Im reading some not too happy thoughts about the fact that they didnt gain much in power/handling. He said Infiniti matched the car to the price they wanted on it, instead of going all out and ending up with a 60K car.

Still not quite sure what 10K extra gets you then, except 20 HP and nicer wheels.
