Carbon Monoxide Poisioning through TRUNK?

Hi guys,

Just had a claim adjuster from my office come to give my car a quote for the damage, since I was in a recent accident. The other company isn't covering it, so I have to go through mine. It was a dodge ram, that backed into me, quote came to $2300...

Anyways...right before the guy leaves he says...OH you should probably tape up the gap between the bumper and the trunk, and put a plastic bag there...I said why? He said the exaust fumes can go through the gap and into your car, and you can pass out?! He said he's heard stories of people at stop lights/traffic and passing out from the fumes? This scared the kajeebers out of me. Its a pretty big gap from the trunk and the bumper from the impact (the trunk won't fully close). I will now drive with my window down...but should I be very worried? Car should be fixed next week hopefully...

Thanks.

It sucks because if the insurance adjuster told you that, then they should also be paying for a rental car for you because your car would be unsafe to drive.

I say if you leave your windows open, you'll be fine. Just don't transport any children.

Yeah, I guess it's possible. I've heard of people with exhaust leaks getting sick while driving.

I've been driving the car for the past 3 weeks, with the windows open or closed, never even thought about it. I don't have the $500 for my deductible yet, so I'm going to have to wait a week or two.

Good thing you didn't go with a $1000.00 dollar deductible!

Not a very bright insurance adjuster. He just admitted that the car really isn't driveable in its current condition, and also put his company on the hook for liability should something happen by acknowledging the potential issue.

Nice.

The guy was sorta weird from the start. Calls me out of the blue, and says I'm 5 min away from your office, where are you parked? I was like WTF, and gave him a description of where I parked in the garage, and told him I'd come down when he arrived. I get down, and he was annoyed that I couldn't give him exact directions "against the wall" etc...Although he said ALL STATE adjuster sucks, and they low balled me, and he gave me $500 higher quote for the damage. He works for my insurance...Then asked if I could call his boss, and tell him that I did a good job, etc. LOL...

He even murmured something about how I could find someone to do it for $1800 and then use the extra $500 as the deductible, if I don't say I'm going through insurance, etc...?

WOW he sounds kinda crooked, NO?? LOL
What did the truck say you backed into them.. I had a similar story where I sitting waiting for a parking space in a lot, and the truck in front on my back up onto my hood, YEA all the way up my hood, He had no reverse lights or brake lights that work, Then left the country for 80 days came back and said I rear ended him :/....
