Got hit today
let me start by saying I dislike doctors.
I was at the doctors office this afternoon sitting quietly in the waiting room for a follow up visit. when the door opens and its my wife who had been sitting in the car waiting, since this was to be a quick (everything fine visit, which i already knew) so she precedes to tell me some guy hit your car.
I never park in front or near anything, usually in the far corner or away from others, but today I parked up front closest to right side curb so i wouldn't get hit by someone opening a door.
Well this guy in a Toyota Tundra w/ a steel bumper comes pulling in, probably on the phone and swings wide into parking stall and hits rear driver-side and then kept going until he cleared my car
obviously, its his fault since he hit a legally parked car, but damn i hate the hassle of dealing with insurance companies, and the damage being reported to carfax will hurt me later. (SC does not allow suing for depreciation)
The damage appears to be minor, but I dont know. I hate that sh*t.
9K miles and it looks unpleasant, unattractive, unfavorable, spoiled.

I feel your pain. It shouldn't be too involved for a good body shop, but it will all hinge on what they do with your quarter panel. If it's repairable, not bad, but if a replacement is required, then prepare to go without your car for maybe 3 weeks plus. Until we had to deal with a similar issue I had never thought about how much work is involved in replacing the Q panel, including rear window removal and interior R & R. Since welding is involved, there are tons of precautions to protect surrounding areas. Best of luck.

I feel your pain.
But I don't think that will show up on carfax. I'm in MD and got struck on driver side door. Hard enough that they had to replace the whole door. As long as no airbags, no injuries and the car is driveable it will not show up on carfax.

It's more of a hassle with the paperwork, phone calls, etc with the insurance company than the accident itself! I was rear-ended sitting at a stop sign from a guy looking down at his phone who claims he never saw the sign! Totaled my Acura TL, but got a fair $ amount for it's blue book value. I was a paronoid driver for the next month or 2 looking in my rear view mirror at every light and stop sign.. Very stressfull, indeed..
good luck!
