Hit Curb on ice going 15-20 mph

Mainly just hit the wheel but wow, $3,000.... The car was originally sold in california and apparently the previous owner had the factory Infiniti wheels custom chromed... So I might get a new set of chrome wheels ? Claims adjuster looked at it and made the list...

It certainly doesn't take much.

My wife did this to one of our cars about 15 years ago. State Farm wanted to charge me more than my deductible because a new idler arm was required. Since the car was three years old and due to liability issues they would not install a used arm..I had to have a new one. They said that new one was a "betterment" for my car and I needed to pay the difference - over and above the deductible.

I think the agent may have paid the difference, as SF rejected my appeal and I refused to pay it. I told them I was a life insurance underwriter (Home Office type) and I only got one chance to set a premium rate - at initial application. They being the P&C side of things, got to re-underwrite me every 6 months and set a new rate, if necessary. They needed to have their actuary consider any possible "betterments" in their new rate during the every 6-month underwriting cycle.

Good luck with the repairs.

Anytime you hit a curb hard, there's sure to be serious damage. You're getting a new knuckle and hub, which means the wheel only took the initial damage. The rest of the damage traveled through the suspension and getting it properly repaired is the only way to go.
