Rattle in drivers side front door
#16
Everything is a trade off.....the build quality of the BMW I traded to get the G was far better than this G....but its reliability and cost to maintain was horrible. I too hate rattles, but following my last experience, I will probably be a bit more tolerant of the rattles.
It's a bad position to be in, but if everyone with a rattle complained about it, I believe Infiniti would probably build the cars a bit better to avoid a bunch of warranty work.

I had an IS 350 before my G, and chased rattles in that car for 4 solid years. I was constantly pissed about them. Now I have the same problem with the G.
For some reason, rattles have become acceptable in near-lux sports sedans. I have an SUV that is vault quiet, and had a truck before that - also very quiet. Hell, I had a 2000 Maxima that never had a single squeak or rattle.
It's a law of inverse proportions. As manufacturing tolerances and exterior build quality goes up, the quality of interior tolerances and build quality goes down. It shouldn't be true, but it sure seems to be.

The Acura TL might be the ONLY exception(Mercedes C-class is iffy), the outside has gawking panel gaps and the exhaust doesnt fit into the rear bumper molding right... It's interior build quality is arguably the best in entry luxury cars, as well as it's Acura/ELS stereo... GM, Ford, and Chrysler(in particular just came out with a SLEW of new redesigned or refreshed cars, all with brand spankin new interiors) are all lightyears ahead of where they were ten years ago. Same can't be said for the Japanese Big 3 (Nissan, Toyota, Honda) or the German Big 3(BMW, Daimler, VW Group).

Not to pick on you, but this attitude is the exact reason that companies are cutting quality and letting us live with rattles. Infiniti and their competition will only do the MINIMUM required to keep us as customers. If we're willing to live with rattles, then they will continue to provide them.

I agree that making our concerns known to Infiniti might be helpful....but I am not optimistic given my experience with Japanese makes over the last twenty years.

I thought the VW group had the worst rattles. Both my Jettas in the past (1999 and 2001) rattled everywhere. My 2006 Audi also rattled, though not as bad, but was still there. The G is about the same as the Audi. But I agree...some of the F150 trucks I drive sometimes at work is rattle free, even off roading in a rock quarry.

Today I logged on to post about the rattle coming from somewhere in the steering column, but looks like no one else has been able to pinpoint the exact cause.
I've have 4 prior G's, 2 with rattles and 2 built like vaults. Seems that every other G I get has a rattle.
Got the squeak fixed on moonroof, then a month later got the rear decklid rattle fixed, and now another month later (once it got cold) the steering column is rattling. Love these cars but its getting f--king annoying.
I agree that Audi/BMW feel more solid in the cabin, but previously I didn't the performance trade off was worth the price. Now that I'm getting a little bit older and not driving like a bat out of hell, I may consider Ze Germans next time around...

Have any of you actually taken in the car to dealer for the rattle problem? My car is just over 2 months old and this rattle is very very annoying. I'm thinking of taking it in to the dealer, but afraid they might make it worse by taking everything apart. I think mine rattles specifically from either front passenger side or rear.

What do you mean it's not perfect like the passenger side? They fixed the rattle in the passenger side without leaving any marks?

Just noticed the rear deck rattle and I'm exactly sure about the doors but I think they are rattling as well with bass. But the rear deck is much worse. I was riding with no music but the rear deck was singing it's own tune. Though annoying, not annoying enough to abandon infiniti altogether. I will be having these rattles along with the bluetooth and tranny issues addressed when I get my next oil change.

Of all the cars I have had experience with, Hondas have had the least amount of rattles and creeks. All cars rattle. I dont know about Mercedes, but VW/Audi and BMWs are notorious for rattles/creeks. The reality is, build quality is suffering across the board.

No, the rattle I have in my door is RIDICULOUS. I took it to the dealership for them to fix for a second time and they said that it will probably come back because the stereo is so powerful and base with cause things to loosen. They also said that they will not fix it again under warranty and if it continues, I should take it to a car audio specialist on my own dime. I really don't see how this is my problem??? I experience the rattle at volumes of 50% or higher. This IS a 40,000+ car with 8,000 miles. The rattle is so bad that people ask me about it when in my car. They also ask how com the shodo trim in my center console is dented. I don't know who designs a car where the center console will dent.... Well asides Infiniti that is....EPIC FAIL
