....just the muffler....

Much of what I've read brings consistency that the catbacks available for our cars bring nominal gains, and axlebacks bring pretty much zero.....while both bring some really nice exhaust tones. That being said, I just don't want to plop down a considerable amount of cash for either....but do want my G to growl a bit more aggressively through the mid-upper RPM range and I know I'm not alone. Sooooo.......here's the question.

IF you took your G to a reputable performance exhaust shop and were to do a MUFFLER SWAP ONLY on your G to find a nice sound that you like, which brand of muffler and what model would you most likely choose & why?

thanks.....

Tanabe is gonna be all over this thread.

HKS also has an axle back. I'm sure some people here have done a custom exhaust, but from axle back kits, its Tanabe and HKS.

Yup Tanabe i's your best bet! I had a full fast intentions Catback and when i went back to stock w Tanabe mufflers alone i was like OmG cause they sound so good you won't need a full catback unless you looking for performance ! Great looks/fit/finish and i have a set sale if u interested just shoot me $500 shipped and they are yours ! Tanabe i's truly a great bang for the buck you will notice a huge diff over stock ! They surprised the he'll out of me. Check my FS thread

ok but that's an axleback that'll still be like $700-800 and is a production-fabbed piece......what about just locating a legitimate quality brand muffler and having it welded in place at the speed shop? Gotta be about half the $$ right?

Yes sir 08 coupe!!! The only reason I'm selling i's because my Fast Intentions SS TDX system will be here i'n about two weeks!!! I reordered it after i sold my Carbon Fiber catback system so when i went back to stock i picked up Tanabe mufflers 1.5 months ago because Fast told ne my wait time for a new system would be about two months... Well that time i's here and these got to go.

^....I'd consider them BUT I'm in a sedan.

Perhaps the better way to put the questions is.....what's the best sounding/looking universal muffler to weld in place of the stockers? Apexi, Borla, Sebring, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Other, etc. Not
too loud, avoid cruise drone, but wakes up nicely from 4-7k rpm

why choose Magnaflow over the other notable brands? Almost all the youtube stuff I've seen with Magnaflow seemed to have actually made the car quieter.

I would love to have straight pipes in place of the mufflers. I'm currently driving without mufflers and can't find a shop that will do a nice job making these.
